If Muhammad was a liar? Can christians explain this?

The non-Muslim verdict on Muhammad (PBUH) If a man like Muhamed were to assume the dictatorship of the modern world, he would succeed in solving its problems that would bring it the much needed peace and happiness.

George Bernard Shaw

People like Pasteur and Salk are leaders in the first sense. People like Gandhi and Confucius, on one hand, and Alexander, Caesar and Hitler on the other, are leaders in the second and perhaps the third sense. Jesus and Buddha belong in the third category alone. Perhaps the greatest leader of all times was Mohammed, who combined all three functions. To a lesser degree, Moses did the same.

Professor Jules Masserman

Head of the State as well as the Church, he was Caesar and Pope in one; but, he was Pope without the Pope's pretensions, and Caesar without the legions of Caesar, without a standing army, without a bodyguard, without a police force, without a fixed revenue. If ever a man had the right to say that he ruled by a right divine, it was Muhummed, for he had all the powers without their supports. He cared not for the dressings of power. The simplicity of his private life was in keeping with his public life.

Rev. R. Bosworth-Smith

Muhammad was the soul of kindness, and his influence was felt and never forgotten by those around him.

Diwan Chand Sharma, The Prophets of the East, Calcutta 1935, p. l 22.

Four years after the death of Justinian, A.D. 569, was born at Mecca, in Arabia the man who, of all men exercised the greatest influence upon the human race . . . Mohammed . . .

John William Draper, M.D., L.L.D., A History of the Intellectual Development of Europe, London 1875, Vol. 1, pp. 329-330

In little more than a year he was actually the spiritual, nominal and temporal rule of Medina, with his hands on the lever that was to shake the world.

John Austin, "Muhammad the Prophet of Allah," in T.P. 's and Cassel's Weekly for 24th September 1927.

Philosopher, Orator, Apostle, Legislator, Warrior, Conqueror of ideas Restorer of rational beliefs, of a cult without images; the founder of twenty terrestrial empires and of one spiritual empire, that is Muhammed. As regards all standards by which human greatness may be measured, we may well ask, is there any man greater than he?

Lamartine, Historie de la Turquie, Paris 1854, Vol. 11 pp. 276-2727

It is impossible for anyone who studies the life and character of the great prophet of Arabia, who knows how he taught and how he lived, to feel anything but reverence for that mighty Prophet, one of the great messengers of the Supreme. And although in what I put to you I shall say many things which may be familiar to many, yet I myself feel whenever I re-read them, a new way of admiration, a new of reverence for that mighty Arabian teacher.

Annie Besant, The Life and Teachings of Muhammad, Madras 1932, p. 4

Muhummed is the most successful of all Prophets and religious personalities.

Encyclopedia Britannica

I have studied him - the wonderful man - and in my opinion far from being an anti-Christ he must be called the saviour of humanity.

George Bernard Shaw in "The Genuine Islam"

By a fortune absolutely unique in history, Mohammed is a threefold founder of a nation, of an empire, and of a religion.

Rev. R. Bosworth-Smith in "Mohammed and Mohammedanism 1946."

m

•Islam (1.5+ billion people). Catching up at a rate of 10:1. Many of the converts are Atheists or Christians (including many Church leaders and ministers). By 2025 Muslims will out number Christians.

•In America pre 9/11 40000+ people convert to Islam per year, post 9/11, people have became curious about what makes Muslims tick. They are now discovering that what Muslims like these do are completely in the opposite direction to the teachings of Muhammad and Islam, hence why the number of converts has increased to 78000+ a year.

•Jesus' message was 2.4 years, Muhammad's 23 years

•Jesus' had 120 followers at the end of his time on earth Muhammad had millions

•Muhammad confirmed Jesus and believed in him, as Jesus said to his disciples whilst in the Garden of Gethsemane that someone would come to confirm him

•Jesus said he came to the tribe of Israel only, Muhammad said he came to all mankind.

•The different denominations of Christianity don't agree with each other about Mary, Jesus, the trinity, the many versions and revisions of the Bible etc, whereas the different denominations of Islam agree that Muhammad is the final Prophet, Jesus is a Prophet and performed miracles, God is One and Only, and the exact Quran as at the time of Muhammad is still used today by all the denominations, and the originals are still available.

•10's of millions of Muslims have memorised the entire Quran all over the world, whereas no Christian has memorised the bible and if they did they would have to memorise their own version and would have to update their memorisations every time a new revision was

Additional Details

where does Quran actually say "Death to the infidel"

i can show that the gospel of violence(Bible) commands not leave a person alive in cities which are conquered .

NT says to kill children

Revelation 2:22-23 Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

There's a certain kind of fallacy called the "Appeal to Authority". Essentially, it is a fallacy to think that just because a person has fame or expertise in a certain area, does not mean that they are qualified to judge on other matters.

Example: George Bernard Shaw was a great writer. However, he was not an expert in theology, nor was he alive during the time of Mohammad. Thus, his opinion is just that, an opinion, and holds no more special weight than any other opinion of Mohammad, good or bad.

Secondly, Christianity suffers from a phenomenon that is by no means unique: people, all the time, claim to speak for God. I don't know if you've heard of Joseph Smith, or not, but he fashioned an entire religion based on an angel appearing to him. He wrote books of scripture, "restored" a gospel, and millions of people now follow his religion. It happens ALL the time, because humans are susceptible to delusions of grandeur, and the feeling that they are "special", or that God has a message just for them.

I don't know if this happens in Islam, but I do know that there are many sects of Islam, such as Sunni, Shia, Sufi, and others -- and adherents of each one think theirs is the most correct.

And my point is...your proofs must rest on fact, not on the opinions of famous people, or on the argument that because Mohammad did things even better than Jesus did, that somehow makes what he said true. Do you know who also had more than 120 followers, preached longer than 2.4 years, "came after Jesus to confirm him", and whose message went out to all mankind? Joseph Smith. And he was a false prophet, if ever there was one.

Just because someone can memorize a book, does not make it true. I have most of the play "Hamlet" memorized; does that make it a true story?

I as well other Muslims made the error saying Muhammad (PBUH) is not a liar. If God himself made it certain to him and all humans and Jinn that the Quran is God 's word we need to talk to them with pride. We better off say Muhammad says always the truth and do not say he was not a liar. Particularly so we did for years talk to them about the Quran and put all the answers of their questions. It is now more of arrogance and tyranny to reject the Quran as the book of God. It is like the disbelievers in the time of Muhammad. They knew he never lied and they did not have to him a single lie before or after the message and his face was not that of a liar. They however chose their arrogant over the truth. My response to the person who made the comments are:
The fallacy of appeal of authority: it is not few famous people who are praising Islam but the 1.5 billion people who are believers in the Quran as the book of God. Top Muslims scientists are believers in the Quran as the true book of God. Some people memorized Hamlet: I doubt it likely one part and not all like the Quran, Millions memorized the entire Quran or parts and very likely Hamlet was only memorized by few people and likely only parts. For someone to declare that he is  a prophet is not necessarily so and I agree with that and God said that in the Quran. The argument is simple the best to attest that the Quran is the book of God is God himself as he did in the Quran, The proofs are the duty of those who argue against that to prove to us the Quran is not God's book and that Muhammad is the author of the Quran, Satan or anyone else. The only thing they have to make is a convincing scenario, for example how the Quran mentioned scientific facts that known only recently to us.
