Conception of Reason in the Qur'an

From: www.quraaniclessons.com

Heretofore we have discussed briefly the diction of the Qur'an, and said that, for the purpose of communicating its message, the Qur'an makes use of two types of languages, namely, the language of rational argument and the language of feeling. Each of these languages has a specific appeal. The first type addresses and appeals to the intellect or reason, while the second one is meant to appeal to the heart. Now we shall examine the point of view of the Qur'an regarding reason ('aql).
It is to be seen whether or not the Qur'an acknowledges the "authority" (hajjah) of reason --as the scholars of fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and usul put it. This means whether or not we should respect the judge-ments of reason and act according to them if they happen to be correct and rightly deduced by it. Moreover, if one acts according to the dictates of reason and occasionally falls into error, will God exonerate him for it, or whether He will punish him on account of that error? And, if one fails to act according to the ruling of reason, does he deserve punishment?

Evidence in Favour of the Authority of Reason
The issue of the authority of reason in Islam is certain. Since the earliest times until the present, none amongst the Islamic scholars --except for a very small number-- has ever negated the authority of reason; they have counted it as one of the four sources of Islamic fiqh.

1. The Qur'an's Emphasis on Rationalism
Since our discussion is about the Qur'an, I think it necessary to produce arguments concerning the authority of reason from the Qur'an itself. The Qur'an, in various ways, confirms the authority of reason. About sixty to seventy verses can be cited --and that, too, for just one of the various ways, as mentioned-- in which the Qur'an indicates that such and such a matter has been mentioned for reason to reflect on. In one instance, the Qur'an refers to this issue in a striking statement:

Surely the worst of beasts in God's sight are those that are deaf and dumb and do not reason. (8:22)

Of course, it is obvious that the Qur'an does not mean the physically deaf and dumb, but those who do not want to listen to truth, or those who, when they hear, do not wish to admit it with their tongues. In the view of the Qur'an, the ears which are unable to listen to truth and which are only used for listening to absurd and nonsensical things, are deaf. The tongue which is merely used to utter nonsense, is dumb. The people who do not reason, are those who do not make use of their intellect and their faculty of thought. Such are not fit to be called human beings. The Qur'an includes them among the beasts. In another verse, while bringing up a subject related to Divine Unity (al-tawhid), the Qur'an refers to the issue of unity of Divine Acts, and says:

It is not for any soul to believe, save by the leave of God... (10:100)

After stating this profound issue --a problem which is not easily comprehensible to every human mind-- the Qur'an continues the verse like this:

And He lays abomination upon those who do not reason. (10:100)

In these two verses, which I quote here for the sake of example, the Qur'an, in the terms of logic, invites us to ratiocination. There are many other verses in the Qur'an which, on the basis of consequential signification, can be said to accept the authority of reason. In other words, the Qur'an makes statements which cannot be accepted without accepting the authority of reason. For instance, an opponent is asked to forward rational argument in favour of his position:

Say: Bring your proof if you are truthful. (2:111)

This can only be inferred to mean the Qur'an's ratification of the authority of reason. In another place it uses syllogistic argument to prove the existence of the Necessary Being (wajib al-wujud):

Were there gods in them [earth and heaven] other than God, they would surely disintegrate ... (21:22)

In these verses the Qur'an has framed a conditional proposition, which exempts or excludes the antecedent premise for arriving at a conclusion which is consequent upon it. Thus the Qur'an aims at emphasizing the role of reason and refutes the view of some of the religions that faith is alien to, or, is incompatible with reason, and that to embrace faith one has to suspend his rational faculty and concentrate upon heart alone, so that it may absorb the Divine light and become illuminated by it. This view is totally negated and refuted by the Qur'an.

2. References to the Law of Causality
The other argument that supports the view that the Qur'an approves of the ultimate authority of reason, is that it defines various problems in terms of cause-and-effect relationship. The cause-and-effect relation-ship, or the law of causation, is the foundation of rational thinking. This law is honoured by the Qur'an and is also employed by it. The Qur'an speaks on behalf of God, the Almighty, the Creator of the system of cause and effect. Despite the fact that His Word transcends the limitations of causality, the Qur'an is not oblivious of pointing out to the system of causality operating in the universe; it views all phenomena and events as being subservient to this system. The following verse supports this view:

God changes not what is in a people, until they change what is in themselves ... (13:11)

The Qur'an intends to say that, although all destinies depend on the Will of God, He never imposes upon human beings such fate as is outside and alien to their determination, will and action. The destinies of societies also change according to their intrinsic system of functioning. God does not extravagantly alter the destiny of a nation without any specific reason, unless they themselves bring about a major change in their system of social and moral values and their manner of performing their individual duties.

The Qur'an urges Muslims to study the conditions and circumstances of societies of the past and to take lesson from their history. It is evident that if the destinies of races and nations were random, or dependent upon accidents, or were prescribed from above, the advice to study and draw a lesson would not have any sense. By laying emphasis on it, the Qur'an intends to remind us that a uniform system of laws governs the destinies of all the nations of the world. It also reminds us that if the conditions of a society in which we live, are similar to the conditions prevalent in a society of the past, the same fate awaits us too. Elsewhere, the Qur'an says:

How many a city We have destroyed in its evildoing, and now it is fallen down upon its turrets. How many a ruined well, a tall palace. What, have they not journeyed in the land so that they have hearts to understand with, or ear to hear with ... ? (22:45-46)

From this statement, we can infer that the affirmation of the law of causality and the approval of the cause-and-effect relationship, imply the acceptance of authority of reason.

3. Rational Basis of Divine Commands
Another argument which proves that the Qur'an believes in the ultimate authority of reason, is that the Qur'an always explains the rationale behind its commands, laws and precepts. The scholars of usul al-din (the principles of the Faith) maintain that the harms and benefits caused by human deeds are among the reasons behind laws and commands. For example, while at one place the Qur'an ordains the performance of prayers, in another place it explains the philosophy of prayer:

Indeed prayer forbids indecency and dishonour ... (29:45)

It mentions the spiritual effects of prayer, and states how the prayer can edify man. It explains that it is on account of this exaltation that man can dissociate himself from indecencies. Elsewhere, after laying down rules for observing the fast, the Qur'an explains the rationale for its command:

Prescribed for you is the Fast, even as it was prescribed for those that were before you --haply you will be God-fearing. (2:183)

Similarly, with respect to other commandments like those regarding zakat (alms) and jihad, the Qur'an clarifies their necessity for individual, as well as for society. In this way, the Qur'an, not withstanding the transcendental nature of Divine commandments, clarifies fully their worldly and terrestrial relevance, and asks men to cogitate upon their rationale until their meaning becomes explicit, so that it may not be imagined that these laws are based on a series of occult notions beyond the power of human comprehension.

4. Combating Deviations of Reason
Another evidence in favour of the Qur'an's affirmation of the authority of reason --which is more conclusive than that mentioned above-- is the battle it launched against all those agents which obstruct the proper functioning of reason. For clarification of this point, we are forced to mention certain things in the way of an introduction.
The human mind can, in many cases, fall into error. This fact is acknowledged by all of us. However, this danger is not limited to the intellect alone, but can equally befall the senses, and feelings as well. Just for the sense of vision, scores of visual errors and optical illusions have been pointed out. In the case of reason, too, there are times when people frame an argument and rationale and draw an inference on its basis, but later on they realize that the basis of their conclusion was erroneous. Here the question arises, whether the faculty of reason should be suspended on account of its occasional failures, or whether we should employ other means for discovering the errors of the intellect and seek to avoid such errors. In answering this question, the Sophists said that reason should not be relied upon, and that, basically, argumentation and reasoning is an absurd practice. Other philosophers have given a fitting reply to the Sophists, and said that though the senses can also err like reason, but no one has ever recommended their suspension. Since it was not possible to discard reason, the philosophers resolved to find ways of making reason secure from error. During their efforts in this regard, they discovered that all arguments consist of two parts, namely, matter and form. Like a building which has various ingredients in its construction, like, lime, cement, steel, etc. (matter), to acquire a specific structure (form). In order to attain the permanence and perfection of its construction, it is essential to procure proper material as well as to draw a perfect and faultless plan. For the correctness and accuracy of an argument, too, it is essential that its content and form be both free of error and defect. For judging the validity of the form of any argument, the Aristotelian or formal logic came into existence. The function of formal logic is to determine the accuracy or inaccuracy of the form of an argument, and help the mind to avoid errors in the process of reasoning.

But the major problem that remains is that solely formal logic is inadequate for this purpose, because it cannot alone guarantee the validity of an argument. It can give assurance about one aspect alone. To obtain the perfection of the material aspect, the use of material logic is also essential, that is, we need certain criteria for controlling the quality of the rational material.

Thinkers like Bacon and Descartes strove hard to evolve some kind of material logic similar to the formal logic of Aristotle, which was devised for formal reasoning. They did obtain certain criteria in this regard, though they are not as universal as those of Aristotelian logic, but are, to a limited extent, helpful in preventing the mind from committing errors in reasoning. Some may be surprised to know that the Qur'an has presented such principles for the prevention of any lapses in the process of reasoning, which surpass in merit and precedence the efforts of philosophers like Descartes and others.

Attraction of the Quran

From: http://quraaniclessons.com/Attraction_of_the_quran.asp

One of the aspect of the Quran which serves to indicate its unique and exceptional nature is the remarkable and inexhaustible attraction that it exerts.

Today, more than fourteen centuries after the revelation of the Quran, the captivating sound of the recitation of the Quran can still be heard in all the different parts of the world, leaving its impression on hearts and minds, and transforming the spirits of all who listen to it.

Its appeal overwhelms the soul and brings tears flowing from the eyes and makes the heart tremble.

“Those to whom We gave the Book before this, believe in it, and, when it is recited to them, they say, 'We believe in it; surely it is the Truth from our Lord; even before it we were of those who surrender”. (28:52-53)
This ayah describes a group of people who undergo a state of veneration and awe when the Qur'an is recited before them. They affirm faith in all the contents of the Book, declare everything in it to be nothing but truth and their veneration of it continues to increase.

Then in another verse, a group of Christians who believed and became Muslims on hearing the Qur'an are described in these words:

“And when they hear what has been sent down to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflow with tears, because of the truth they recognize. They say, "Our Lord we believe; so do You write us down among the witnesses." (5:83)

In another place, while describing the believers, the Qur'an says:

“God has sent down the fairest discourse as a book, consimilar in its oft repeated parts, whereat shiver the skins of those who fear their Lord; then their skins and their hearts soften to the remembrance of God ...” (39:23)
The rays of attraction exerted by the Quran was not confined to Mecca, its birth place, but spread outwards from Mecca together with the movement of the Muslims. To mention some examples: the rays of Quran shone in the heart of King Najjashi, in the Christian court of Ethiopia, thanks to the recitation of Ja’far bin Abitalib, despite the unfavorable situation prevailing there and the pressure brought to bear by the opponents of islam.

Equally they shone in Madina, the base for the formation of a new Society, where the Quran was recited by Mus’ab bin Umayr.

Ibn Hisham writes in his life of the Prophet: “So strong was the heartfelt desire of the people to hear the Quran that even some of the unbelievers of the Quraysh would secretly go near the Prophet’s house at night, remaining there until dawn, in order to listen throughout the night to the pleasing melody of the Quran as recited by the Messenger of God. This happened many times”. (Sirat Ibn Hisham, Vol. I, p. 386)

So that the people would not fall under the influence of Quran’s eloquence and power to attract, the nonbelievers would instruct a group of people to go and make a noise, to whistle and clap their hands, while the Prophet was reciting the verses of Quran.

“The polytheists said: Do not listen to the verses of the Quran, and make a noise while they are being recited, perhaps you will thus triumph”. (41:26)

Ihsaan (Generosity)

From: http://www.al-huda.com/Article_3of73.htm

Ihsaan (Generosity)

"And do not make mischief in the earth after its reformation, and call on Him fearing and hoping;
surely the mercy of Allah is nigh to the Muhsineen ( those who do good (to others))." [Al-Quran 7:56]

Abu Dharr reported that Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "He has been successful whose heart Allah has made sincere towards faith, whose heart He has made free from unbelief, his tongue truthful, his soul calm, his nature straight, whose ear He has made attentive and his eye observant. The ear is a funnel and the eye is a repository for what the heart learns. He is successful whose heart is made retentive." [al Tirmidhi - 5200]

Ihsaan is to be generous with others, doing favours secretly or openly, without asking for any compensation for the generosity. Being generous is a marvelous characteristic of a human being, which is free from selfishness, greediness and arrogance. A generous person (Muhsin), not only respects the rights of others but also gives more from his own generousity, purely for the sake of Allah. For such a person who spends his/her wealth, efforts, time etc for the benefits of Allah's Creatures, is there anyone who can reward him/her better than Allah himself?

Sayyidina Isa (Jesus, May Allah's blessings be upon him) is quoted in the Qur'an as saying:

قال اني عبدالله اتاني الكتاب وجعلني نبيا ¤ وجعلني مباركا اين ماكنت واوصاني بالصلاة والزكاة مادمت حيا

"He (Iesa (Jesus)) said: Verily! I am a slave of Allah, He has given me the Scripture and made me a Prophet;" ¤ "And He has made me blessed wheresoever I be, and has enjoined on me Salat (prayer), and Zakat, as long as I live." Al-Quran [ سورة مريم (Maryam) - 19:30-31]

The saying, "And He has made me blessed wheresoever I be...", reminds us about the generosity of the Prophets, as we know the simplicity of the Prophet Jesus and Muhammad (peace be upon them), they both had a simple life, but filled with generousity and compassion for those who were around them and this is the path of any Muhsin (or Muslim). Allah has commanded us to be generous with those who are around us (spreading nice fragrance...), starting from those who are nearest to us (such as Our parents, children, relatives, neighbours, travellers, etc), as Ar-Rahmaan (the Most Compassionate) has said:

واعبدوا الله ولاتشركوا به شيئا وبالوالدين احسانا وبذي القربى واليتامى والمساكين والجار ذي القربى والجار الجنب والصاحب بالجنب وابن السبيل وماملكت ايمانكم ان الله لايحب من كان مختالا فخورا

And serve Allah. Ascribe no thing as partner unto Him. (Show) kindness unto parents, and unto near kindred, and orphans, and the needy, and unto the neighbour who is of kin (unto you) and the neighbour who is not of kin, and the fellow-traveller and the wayfarer and (the slaves) whom your right hands possess. Lo! Allah loveth not such as are proud and boastful, Al-Quran [ سورة النساء (Nisaa) - 4:36]

And hasten to forgiveness from your Lord; and a Garden, the extensiveness of which is (as) the heavens and the earth, it is prepared for those who guard (against evil). ¤ Those who spend (benevolently) in ease as well as in straitness, and those who restrain (their) anger and pardon men; and Allah loves the Muhsineen (doers of good (to others)).

And spend in the way of Allah and cast not yourselves to perdition with your own hands, and do good (to others); surely Allah loves the Muhsineen (doers of good). Al-Quran [ سورة البقرة (Baqarah) - 2:195]
Generosity is not limited to just paying some money, but rather there are many ways to be kind such as speaking kindly, smiling, forgiving, encouraging goodness, protecting from evil, strengthening in sadness, helping elders etc. In fact, Islam teaches us to be kind even with the animals.

The Prophet said, "A man felt very thirsty while he was on the way, there he came across a well. He went down the well, quenched his thirst and came out. Meanwhile he saw a dog panting and licking mud because of excessive thirst. He said to himself, "This dog is suffering from thirst as I did." So, he went down the well again and filled his shoe with water and watered it. Allah thanked him for that deed and forgave him. The people said, "O Allah's Apostle! Is there a reward for us in serving the animals?" He replied: "Yes, there is a reward for serving any animate (living being)." [Sahih Bukhari - 003_043_646]

Allah's Apostle said, "Anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should not harm his neighbor, and anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should entertain his guest generously and anybody who believes in Allah and the Last Day should talk what is good or keep quiet. [Sahih Bukhari - 008_073_047]

The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: The believer is simple and generous, but the profligate is deceitful and ignoble.[Abu Dawud - 041_4772]

Allah's Messenger (peace be upon him) said, "The generous man is near Allah, near Paradise, near men and far from Hell, but the miserly man is far from Allah, far from Paradise, far from men and near Hell. Indeed, an ignorant man who is generous is dearer to Allah than a worshipper who is miserly." [Tirmidhi - 1869]

Ibn Abbas narrated:

Allah's Apostle was the most generous of all the people, and he used to reach the peak in generosity in the month of Ramadan when Gabriel met him. Gabriel used to meet him every night of Ramadan to teach him the Qur'an. Allah's Apostle was the most generous person, even more generous than the strong uncontrollable wind (in readiness and haste to do charitable deeds). [Sahih Bukhari - 001_001_005]

Once again, for such a person who spends his/her wealth, efforts, time etc for the benefits of Allah's Creatures, is there anyone who can reward him/her better than Allah himself?

There is atleast one big reward, which will please every seeker of wisdom, insha' Allah. Allah the Most High, has said in at least two places that knowledge and wisdom is granted to such Muhsineen (generous).

And when he (Yusuf/Joseph) had attained his maturity, We gave him wisdom and knowledge: and thus do We reward the Muhsineen.

And when he (Musa/Moses) attained his maturity and became full grown, We granted him wisdom and knowledge; and thus do We reward Muhsineen. Al-Quran [ سورة القصص (Qusas) - 28:14]

O Mankind !

From: http://quranicteachings.co.uk/o-mankind.htm

O mankind! Verily there has come to you a convincing proof from your Guardian-Lord: For We have sent unto you a light (that is) manifest. [4:174]

O Mankind! The Messenger has come to you in truth from Allah. Believe in him: It is best for you. But if you reject Faith, to Allah belong all things in the heavens and on earth: And Allah is All-knowing, All-wise. [4:170]

O mankind! There has come to you a direction from your Lord and a prescription for the minds,- a guidance and a beneficence for those who believe. [10:57]

O mankind! Serve your Guardian-Lord [by living a life according to His guidance], who created you and those who came before you, so that you may journey through life with safety and security. [2:21]

O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other (not that you may despise (each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things). [49:13]

O mankind! Call to mind the grace of Allah unto you! Is there a creator, other than Allah, to give you sustenance from heaven or earth? There is no god but He: how then are you deluded away from the Truth? [35:3]

O mankind! Guard yourself [against the inevitable consequences of violating the laws] of your Guardian-Lord [by observing carefully His guidance], who created you from a single life-cell, and created from it, its mate, and from them twain scattered (like seeds) countless men and women;- Observe carefully the guidance of Allah, through whom you demand your mutual (rights), and (reverence) the wombs (That bore you): for Allah ever watches over you. [4:1]

O mankind! Guard yourself [against the inevitable consequences of violating the laws] of your Guardian-Lord [by observing carefully His guidance], and fear (the coming of) a Day when no father can avail aught for his son, nor a son avail aught for his father. Verily, the promise of Allah is true: let not then this present life deceive you, nor let the chief Deceiver deceive you about Allah. [31:33]

O mankind Guard yourself [against the inevitable consequences of violating the laws] of your Guardian-Lord [by observing carefully His guidance], for the convulsion of the Hour (of Judgment) will be a thing terrible! [22:1]

…O mankind! your insolence is against your own souls,- an enjoyment of the life of the present: in the end, to Us is your return, and We shall show you the truth of all that you did. [10:23]

O mankind! Certainly the promise of Allah is true. Let not then this present life deceive you, nor let the Chief Deceiver deceive you about Allah.[ 35:5 ]

O mankind! if ye have a doubt about the Resurrection, (consider) that We created you out of dust, then out of sperm, then out of a leech-like clot, then out of a morsel of flesh, partly formed and partly unformed, in order that We may manifest (our power) to you; and We cause whom We will to rest in the wombs for an appointed term, then do We bring you out as babes, then (foster you) that ye may reach your age of full strength; and some of you are called to die, and some are sent back to the feeblest old age, so that they know nothing after having known (much), and (further), you see the earth barren and lifeless, but when We pour down rain on it, it is stirred (to life), it swells, and it puts forth every kind of beautiful growth (in pairs). [22:5]

O mankind! Here is a parable set forth! Listen to it! Those on whom, besides Allah, you call, cannot create (even) a fly, if they all met together for the purpose! And if the fly should snatch away anything from them, they would have no power to release it from the fly. Feeble are those who petition and those whom they petition! [22:73]

O mankind! It is you that have need of Allah. But Allah is the One Free of all wants, worthy of all praise.[35:15]

O mankind! Eat of what is on earth, Lawful and is of your liking; and do not follow the footsteps of the evil one, for he is to you an avowed enemy. [2:168]

Man and Woman

From: http://quranicteachings.co.uk/man-and-woman.htm

Both man and woman have been created from the same single vital principle
“It is He Who has created you from a single vital principle [NAFS] and then He created from it a sort of being having its like [ZAWJ]…”[7:189].

“O Mankind! Guard yourselves (from the inevitable consequences of violating the commands) of your Guardian-Lord [Rabb] (by carefully abiding by His Guidance) Who created you from a single vital principle [NAFS] and then He created from it a sort of being having its like [ZAWJ]…”[4:1]

“And among His Signs is this, that He created for you sort of beings having your like [AZWAAJ] from your own vital principle [NAFS]…” [30:21]

Male and female are from one another

“So their Guardian-Lord responded to them: That I will not waste the work of a worker among you, whether male or female, the one of you being from the other;…”[3:195]

All mankind has been created from male and female

Female plays as vital part in the process of procreation as a male.

“O mankind! We created you all from male and female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other (not that ye may despise (each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things)”. [49:13]

Principle of division of labour
Men have been blessed with certain qualities which women lack and women are endowed with certain abilities which men do not have. Both men and women can earn and own. Men shall have what they earn and women shall have whatever they earn [4:32]. Although women can earn but due to biological reasons, they are incapacitated for considerable periods of time, to earn a living. Due to this fact it is obvious and natural that the responsibility for maintaining the family is vested in men. When women are given such protection then they must fulfil their functions as women faithfully and safeguard their potentialities [4:34].

Both men and women are to be rewarded for their actions

So their Guardian-Lord responded to them: That I will not waste the work of a worker among you, whether male or female, the one of you being from the other;…[3:195]

It was not woman who was deceived by Satan
Adam and his wife (the representatives of men and women of the human species) have been mentioned in the Quran at various places. It is incorrect to claim that it was Adam’s wife who was deceived by the Satan. Quran is quite clear in this respect. It says: Satan enticed BOTH of them [2:36]. In the phrase “Faazallahuma alshshaytanu” [2:36], “huma” stands for “both”.

All the qualities that are attributed to Momin (Believer) men, also belong to Momin women

Society consists of both men and women, who have to go through life hand in hand. If one of them lags behind, it is bound to hamper the progress of the other. There is no difference in the potentialities of men and women; except certain biological differences which have been retained for the posterity of the human race.

Both are equally capable to submit to the Divine Laws;

Both are equally capable to exhibit complete conviction in them;

Both are equally capable to utilize their developed potentialities according to the Divine Laws;

Both are equally capable to be true to the covenant (9:111) which they have made with Allah ;

Both are equally capable to be steadfast when facing adversities, troubles or difficulties;

Both are equally capable to be prompt in rendering service to others (like the fruit-laden branch of an easily accessible tree);

Both are equally capable to be ever ready to sacrifice all their assets for the sake of the Divine Order;

Both are equally capable to abstain themselves from all that the Divine Laws prohibit them to do and to bear in mind the restrictions imposed by these Laws;

Both are equally capable to guard their chastity fully; [33:35]

The Characteristics of the Quran

From: http://quranicteachings.co.uk/characteristics.htm

The following characteristics have been mentioned in the Qur'an along with the word 'Qur'an':

1. It is the right guidance or way or course or direction or manner or mode or conduct for the whole mankind [hudan lilnnas]
(2:185)

2. It is clear and manifest as far as the guidance is concerned [bayyinatin mina alhuda]
(2:185)

3. It makes a separation or distinction between truth and falsity [alfurqan]
(2:185)

4. It has no discrepancies or contradictions

Will they not then, ponder over the Quran? If it were from other than Allah they would surely have found in it much discrepancies. [4:82]

According to the above verse, if the Quran had been from anyone other than Allah, there would surely have been much discrepancy in it. Since it is from Allah, there cannot be any discrepancy in it. But the condition is TADABBUR which means:

-Pondering over something while giving careful consideration to its consequences.

-Pondering over (a plan) considering the state of affairs that it would achieve.

The verse 4:82 also gives one principle for the understanding of the Quran, i.e. if there seems any apparent contradiction in the interpretation of any two verses, this may be because we have interpreted any one of the verses incorrectly. There should be more pondering over the verses and any other related verses or concepts and the verses should be re-interpreted until there is no discrepancy between the verses and also the interpretation is not against the rules of the Arabic.

5. It has no crookedness, deceit or deviation form rectitude

Alleged Linguistic Mistakes in The Quran

By: Maged Taman

1- Where is "They Said"

Basit - Hussari - Minshawi
Lahiyatan quloobuhum waasarroo alnnajwa allatheena thalamoo hal hatha illa basharun mithlukum afatatoona alssihra waantum tubsiroona

21:3 (Asad) their hearts set on passing delights; yet they who are [thus] bent on wrongdoing conceal their innermost thoughts [3] [when they say to one another], “Is this [Muhammad] anything but a mortal like yourselves? Will you, then, yield to [his] spellbinding eloquence with your eyes open?’’ [4]

God in this verse did not day say: [when they say to one another] it is the translator words since in this time the wrong doers are talking to themselves or between themsleves but not to Muslims or Muhammad but God let us all know. That is why it is preceeded by the injust or worng doers.

2- Why the verse uses the pleural form of the verb for the single:

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ وَالَّذِينَ هَادُواْ وَالصَّابِؤُونَ وَالنَّصَارَى مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ وعَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَلاَ خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلاَ هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ (5:69)

5:69 (Picktall) Lo! those who believe, and those who are Jews, and Sabaeans, and Christians whosoever believeth in Allah and the Last Day and doeth right there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve.

God in this verses talk about all those people from various religions any of them who believe and do the good deeds, you expect he will say: no fear shall come upon him not them. However, God went to the individual since faith and good deeds is more accurate to each of us as well it is one path then generalized again to make it just to every group of people who believed in one God and did the good deeds.

3- Why the Sabeans are different in verse 5:69 and 2:62 below:

إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ وَالَّذِينَ هَادُواْ وَالنَّصَارَى وَالصَّابِئِينَ مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحاً فَلَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ وَلاَ خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلاَ هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ

It could be this was the way the Arab says it it has two way of spelling. At time of the prophet the Arab who knew their language did not object to that. They were very versed in the Arabic language.

4- A Confusing verse:

4:162 (Picktall) But those of them who are firm in knowledge and the believers believe in that which is revealed unto thee, and that which was revealed before thee, the diligent in prayer and those who pay the poor due, the believers in Allah and the Last Day. Upon these We shall bestow immense reward.

This is not confusing it is two sentences, God spoke about those firm of knowledge of the Jews, he was taking about them in the previous verse 4:161 and the Muslims or believers as both of them believe in the Quran and the previous books. Then the second sentences he talked about those who pray, pau to the poor and believe have great reward. The second sentence could also refine those with the greatest reward those who believe and steady in prayer and giving the poor.

5- Why the verb change from those of two to more than two:
قَالُوا إِنْ هَذَانِ لَسَاحِرَانِ يُرِيدَانِ أَن يُخْرِجَاكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِمَا وَيَذْهَبَا بِطَرِيقَتِكُمُ الْمُثْلَى (20:63)

20:63 (Picktall) They said: Lo! these are two wizards who would drive you out from your country by their magic, and destroy your best traditions;

the "error" in this verse, as is stated by the error finder is:
The word saahiraan should be saahirayn.

The word saahiraan was declined incorrectly because the word inna in the beginning of the nominal sentence causes a form of declension called "nasb" to the nominative and the "yeh" is the "sign of nasb".
At close examination of the actual verse, as it appears in the Qur'an, it, however, becomes obvious that the whole objection is unfounded. The referred verse does not even read as the author has stated. The reading as it appears in the Qur'an is:
"Qaalu in haazaani la-saahiraani ..." (Ta Ha 20: 63)

6- Is Jesus from dust:

إِنَّ مَثَلَ عِيسَى عِندَ اللّهِ كَمَثَلِ آدَمَ خَلَقَهُ مِن تُرَابٍ ثِمَّ قَالَ لَهُ كُن فَيَكُونُ (3:59)

3:59 (Asad) Verily, in the sight of God, the nature of Jesus is as the nature of Adam, whom He created out of dust and then said unto him, "Be" - and he is. [47]

According to Muhammad Assad (a great Muslim scholar and converted Jew): Lit., "The parable of Jesus is as the parable of Adam...", etc. The expression mathal (rendered above as "nature") is often metaphorically employed to denote the state or condition (of a person or a thing), and is in this sense - as the commentators have pointed out - synonymous with sifah (the "quality" or "nature" of a thing). As is evident from the sequence, the above passage is part of an argument against the Christian doctrine of the divinity of Jesus. The Qur'an stresses here, as in many other places, the fact that Jesus, like Adam - by which name, in this context, the whole human race is meant - was only a mortal "created out of dust", i.e., out of substances, both organic and inorganic, which are found in their elementary forms on and in the earth. Cf. also 18:37, 22:5, 30:20, 35:11, 40:67, where the Qur'an speaks of all human beings as "created out of dust". That "Adam" stands here for the human race is clearly implied in the use of the present tense in the last word of this sentence.(Quran Ref: 3:59 )

Invite to your Lord…

From: http://forums.islamicawakening.com/f43/invite-your-lord-19753/

Da'wah is obligation upon us Muslims and the proof for this is where Allah سبحانه وتعالىhas said,

"Invite (mankind, O Muhammad صلى الله عليه و سلم) to the Way of your Lord (i.e. Islam) with wisdom and fair preaching, and argue with them in a way that is best. Truly, your Lord knows best those who have gone astray from His Path, and He is the Best Aware of those who are guided."[1]

Points to be noted:

1)The 'alif' ا mentioned in the first word of the ayah indicates that it is as we say in Arabic Grammar as fa'l amr which means a commanding action. This means that it is a commandment from Allah سحبانه وتعالى to us that we must call people to the religion of AlIslam.

2)Notice the word سَبِيل ,which means a way or path, is in singular form not dual or plural which shows that there is only one path of Allah سبحانه وتعالى which is AlIslam and all others are baatil (false)

3)We are commanded to invite people to AlIslam with Hikmah (wisdom). This word includes many aspects ofcalling people to AlIslam such as:

a)Using Qur`an
b)Using Sunnah of RasuluLlah

4)الْمَوْعِظَةِ meaning, with exhortation and stories of the events that happened to people that are mentioned in the Qur'an, which one is to tell them about in order to warn them of the punishment of Allah سبحانه وتعالى[3] Thus it means it is a prerequisite to use Hikmah in order to fair preaching. Using stories mentioned in the Qur`an for example, story of Nuh عليه السلام as Allah سبحانه وتعالى said,

"He (Nuh (AS)) said: "O my Lord! Verily, I have called my people night and day"[4]

We should understand from this ayah that a Da'ee (a person who gives calls others to Islam) should be patient when he/she is inviting others to AlIslam.

5) الْحَسَنَةِ means something which might be beneficial for a person or something for which a person might be thankful of later on. For example, if a non-Muslim accepts Islam by listening to a story or a parable from the Qur`an, he/she will be thankful for accepting Islam after listening to it.

6) جَادِلْهُم بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ meaning, if any of them want to debate and argue, then let that be in the best manner, with kindness, gentleness and good speech, as Allah سبحانه وتعالى says,

"And do not argue with the People of the Book, unless it be with that which is best, except for those who purposefully do wrong." [5]

Also Allah سبحانه وتعالى commanded Musa and Harun عليهما السلامto speak gently when He sent them to Pharaoh, as He سبحانه وتعالى said:

فَقُولاَ لَهُ قَوْلاً لَّيِّناً لَّعَلَّهُ يَتَذَكَّرُ أَوْ يَخْشَى
And speak to him mildly; perhaps he may accept admonition or fear (of Allah

Even if one wants to do argue with them in a nice manner, he/she needs to use Hikmah.

7) أَحْسَنُmeans best or something perfect. So whenever we must debate, it should be done in the best manner i.e. not insulting nor quarrelling but do it like RasuluLlah

8) We also learn from this verse that there are two parts in giving Da'wah:

a) Preaching to them using good stories and lessons.
b) Refuting or arguing with them in a nice and gentle way.

9) Allah سبحانه وتعالى already knows the state of people. He سبحانه وتعالى knows who is destined for Jahannam and those for Jannah thus one should not feel remorseful for those people who have gone astray. Thus it is clear that our job is just to give them Irshaad (guidance by someone) whilst it is up to Allah سبحانه وتعالى to whom He gives Tawfeeq (guidance granted by Allah سبحانه وتعالى only) to be guided to AlIslam. As Allah سبحانه وتعالى says,

"You cannot guide whom you love" [7]
And also:

"It is not up to you to guide them, but Allah guides whom He wills." [8] [9]

And, indeed Allah سبحانه وتعالى knows best.

Blogger comment:
The religion of God is one and his path is one. Each of the three major religions supposed to be one and all of them have one path though may difffer in Sharia. The ultimate goal is to obey and submit to God and follow morality so we all be happy in the earth and the afterlife. There is no compulsion in faith there is wisdom, logic and persuation. Most of those who attacked Islam did not read the Quran or just jumped to some verses that make their case against Islam when the use of these verses are realted to different situations. Let us be clear we are in the end of time and the enemies of Islam will use every thing against it including the Muslim scholars. There is only clearly two choices now the Mahdi and Jesus (PBUH) and the Dejal or the antichrist. The good people from the three major religions have to stand against Satan in these last few years before Jesus Second Coming.

Study of The Verse: The Wife and Husband in Islam

From: http://muslimaunion.com/

30:21 (Picktall) And of His signs is this: He created for you helpmeets from yourselves that ye might find rest in them, and He ordained between you love and mercy. Lo, herein indeed are portents for folk who reflect. -

In this verse God tell us the main three things in his wisdom in marriage:
1- The soulmate of man or woman is his wife or her husband a very sacred relation.
2- The main objective is to find rest in them which give you all the good in human relationship the best in our relation of other people is finding ease and rest in them like we do with parents and best freinds. Thus the good wife is like the best friend to her husband and the good husband is like the best friend to the wife.
3- God ordained love and mercy between the husband and wife provided they keep this sacred relationship right and feel it is observed by God. If they will not consider him in their realtion it ends by the non-sacred relation we see these days: like greed, competion, control, intimidation, domestic violence, wicked plans, cheating and divorce. That is why there is another verse in the Quran : They forget God and God made them forget themselves. Thus the far we stay away from God the more miserable our lives become.

Christianity (Bible)

Islam (Quran)

"In Lystra there sat a man crippled in his feet, who was lame from birth and had never walked. He listen to Paul as he was speaking. Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healed and called out, "Stand up on your feet!" at that, the man jumped up and began to walk.
When the crowd saw what Paul had done, they shouted in the Lycaonian language, "The gods have come down to us in human form!" Barnabas they called Zeus, and Paul they called Hermes because he was the chief speaker."
Acts 14:8-12

"They take their priests and their anchorites to be their lords in derogation of Allah, and (they take as their Lord) Christ the son of Mary; yet they were commanded to worship but One God (Allah): there is no god but He. Praise and glory to Him: (far is He) from having the partners they associate (with Him)."
Quran 9:31

Worshipping Angels

Ramadan: The month of the Qur’an

From: www.islamicity.com

By Dr. Mozammel Haque

Allah says that the Last Revelation of His was sent down in the month of Ramadan on the Night of Power Lailatul Qadr. (Qur’an, 91:1-3.) It is the month of Ramadan that Allah has honoured it by revealing the Qur’an. Because of this strong relation between the Qur’an and the month of Ramadan, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to read the Qur’an to Archangel Jibreel every Ramadan.

Therefore it is the right place to discuss the purpose and objective of the revelation of the Qur’an, its importance, the various hostile campaigns against it and the do’s and don’ts of the Qur’an.First of all, Allah the Most High, created man and gave him the gift of expression. For the guidance of mankind Allah sent Prophets to every single community.

It is stated in the Qur’an, which means that there has been no community to which God’s Messengers have not come and that Muslims should make no distinction between Allah’s Messengers. So it is the duty of a Muslim to honour all the Prophets equally. The Qur’an represents the culmination of all earlier Revealed Books. It is the last of the Revealed Books sent down by Allah for the guidance of mankind.

The Qur’an is the only scripture, which requires the belief in other revelations, as part of the Islamic Faith. This Sacred Book was revealed to the last Messenger, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the month of Ramadan as Allah Himself said in the Qur’an: “Ramadan is the (month) in which was sent down the Qur’an, as a guide to mankind, also clear (signs) for guidance and judgment (between right and wrong).” (2:185) Allah the Most High has especially mentioned the exact date and month of the revelation: “We have indeed revealed this (Message) in the Night of Power.” (97:1)

So the purpose of the revelation of the Qur’an was to provide true guidance to mankind. The Qur’an is emphatic in proclaiming that Islam is the religion of all Prophets: the religion of Abraham, Moses and Jesus (peace be upon him). It stresses that Prophets Moses, Jesus and all others were not Jews but Muslims. “Surely those who believe (in that which is revealed to Muhammad (peace be upon him) and those who are Jews, and the Christians, and the Sabaeans – whoever believes in Allah, and the Last Day and does good, surely their reward is with their Lord, and there is no fear for them nor shall they grieve.” (2:62). “A Guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and judgement (between right and wrong),” is the most important characteristic of the Qur’an, the Book that Allah has revealed to His last Messenger to serve as the only Book of man’s guidance till the Day of Judgment.

It is guidance for mankind having clear proof of judgement between right and wrong in all matters of human life. Before the revelation of the Qur’an, it was preserved and guarded from every kind of corruption in the “Mother of the Book.” Allah Himself said: “Nay this is a Glorious Qur’an (inscribed) in a Tablet Preserved” (85:21-22). When Allah wanted to give this Trust to someone, the heavens, the earth, and the mountains, i.e. other creatures of Allah, besides man, shirked from shouldering this Trust or responsibility.

They preferred to submit their will entirely to Allah’s Will, which is All-Wise and Perfect, and which would give them far more happiness than a faculty of choice, with their imperfect knowledge. Allah says in the Qur’an: “We did indeed offer the Trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains; but they declined to bear it, being afraid thereof: but man undertook it: He was indeed unjust and ignorant of its results.” (33-72).So it was the man who took the responsibility of the Trust without realizing its importance and consequences. The Qur’an is the revealed book of God which has been in existence for more than 14 hundred years and the Word of Allah is preserved in its original form.

There has not been an iota of change in this unique Divine revelation. Its originality and authenticity has been guaranteed by no other than Allah the Almighty who challenges in the Qur’an itself on various occasions.Allah said, “This Qur’an is not such as can be produced by other than Allah: on the contrary it is a confirmation of (revelation) that went before it, and a fuller explanation of the Book - wherein there is no doubt – from the Lord of the Worlds.” (Qur’an, 10:37).

In another verse of the Qur’an Allah challenges, “Or do they say, “He forged it?” Say: “Bring then a Surah like unto it; and call (to your aid) anyone who can, beside Allah if it be you speak the truth!” (Qur’an,10:38) “Or they may say, “He forged it.” Say, “Bring you then ten Suras forged, like unto it, and call (to your aid) whomsoever you can, other than Allah! – if you speak the truth!” (Qur’an,11:13)Allah said in the Qur’an, “And if you are in doubt as to what We have revealed from time to time to Our servant then produce a Sura like thereunto, and call your witnesses and helpers (if there are any) besides Allah, if your are truthful.” (Qur’an, 2:23)

People in every age have been challenged to produce a Book like it and they were unable to produce one. It is the only Revealed Book whose text stands pure and uncorrupted today. Allah said, “Say: “if the whole of mankind and jinns were to gather together to produce the like of this Qur’an, they could not produce the like thereof, even if they backed up each other with help and support.” (Qur’an, 17:88)

Since the revelation of the Qur’an, the enemies of Islam have been trying to distort its life-giving messages. Firstly, they said, it is not Allah’s revelation, it has been dictated to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) by someone. Then they started attacking its authenticity and originality. In spite of their conspiracies, the Qur’an has been preserved in its original form. The Qur’an is the only Divine revelation which has remained for the past 14 centuries uncorrupted and pure without any human interpolation or change and will remain so till the Last Day as Allah has guaranteed its purity. (Qur’an,15:9).

The purity, preservation and propagation of the Qur’an was maintained by two methods: memorization of the Qur’an in the Qur’anic schools and the recitation of the complete Qur’an in Ramadan. In the month of Ramadan every year the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) would Qur’an with Archangel Jibreel. Abu Huraira reported that the Prophet used to repeat the recitation of the Qur’an with Jibreel once a year, but he repeated it twice with him in the year the Prophet (peace be upon him) died. The Qur’an was recited in the Taraweeh for the first time during the era of Caliph Omar (may Allah be pleased with him).Though many Huffaz and Islamic scholars were killed in the different parts of the world at different times, still there is no dearth of Islamic scholars who can recite the complete Qur’an from memory.

Severe campaigns have been launched against the Qur’anic schools, which teach the study, recitation and memorization of the Qur’an. The Qur’an is the main Book of the Muslims and it is the duty of the Muslims to learn the Qur’an, which contains their code of life and ethical values whose benefits have been experienced by mankind throughout the ages.We have discussed the objectives and importance of the Qur’an and how its originality and purity have been maintained.

Our Prophet (peace be upon him) and his Companions dedicated their whole lives to the worship of Allah. Their lives revolved completely around the Book of Allah, the Qur’an, reciting it in and out of Salah. The Qur’an is the basis of the religion of Islam, and on the preservation and propagation of Allah’s Book depends the very existence of this Faith. Hence the virtues of learning and teaching the Qur’an are self-evident and do not need further elucidation. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “The best amongst you is he who learns the Qur’an and teaches it.” (Bukhari, Daud and Tirmidhi).

The Muslims United Party.

By: Maged Taman

I am suggesting this party as a political party that can exist in every Arab and Muslim country. Though I do not believe in the party system winning election allow us to prepare the Muslim countries for the second coming of Jesus. This party would declare its principals as follows:

1- We are the third alternative to the tyrannical parties in the Muslim world and the extremists agenda.

2- Since the way to government is supposedly through elections we will do it this way and let see if the west will stand for free elections. We will have the political power to impose early elections.
3- We are honestly declaring that if we win elections and govern we will cancel the party system with a consultation system that will allow a real democracy and the sharing of people in governing themselves. We will get rid of the feud and special interest of the party system.

4- The best to control us is real free and responsible media another party will do the same like everywhere he will love the country to fail so they can win the next election.

5- We are abiding by all the principals of human rights and dignity.

6- Though we invite the world to a new world order there is no obligation we as Muslims will try to have one Muslim government or loosely attached governments. I think the west should respect our desire. If they to stand against that it will be a clear oppression from them.

7- We will be friends to all countries we will not be starting troubles to the world. We are likely to solve troubles.

8- Minority groups in all Muslim countries are invited to participate in our party. We do not have a secret agenda but justice, peace and prosperity for all of us Non-Muslims and Muslims.

9- We will not be hostile to the west or Israel and will be pragmatic. We will answer disputes through dialogue and politics.

10- Although a lot Muslim organizations look sound they do not reach out to all people. We will include them under our banner and not vice verse.

11- Extremists would not participate in our parties and we are not interested in cooperation.

12- If we are not allowed to have a party in the Muslim countries we will not fight but we will make a party even if we call it a grocery store and the tyrants can not arrest us all and the west will not allow them to do so or I hope so.

13- Solving peacefully the Palatine-Israel conflict is a must do (two states solution).

14- We will not express rhetoric against any religious group but we will expose wrong policies and ideas.

15- The culture of death that is promoted by extreme groups in all sides and preparing for Armageddon should end. Moderation is the answer to the world struggles.

16- I already have one program to take care of health care delivary and long term care
Taman Health Plan: Social Security

17- I also propse a very strong banking system that will create the right stimulus and opportunity to all our citizens. See under New World Order (Moral Utopia Project
Though I tried to do the project with the west we are able to do it in our countries since the west is not interested.

18- I believe in the brain power that means one brain what ever it is brillance is less powerful than the brains of smart people working together. A lot of good projects will come up from them. The most important way to govern is through the consultation.

19- The best hierarchy of the govenrment is that made up of the best of people both morally and in expertise from all the citizen of a country regardless of their faith or race.

20- Our ultimate goal is to prepare the world for Jesus second coming. If we are wrong and they are not coming soon we are doing what is geopolitically right (though all the signs point to his soon second coming. We are creating a large moderate Islamic movement to peacefully transition the Arab and Muslim world to a new era of justice, peace and prosperity. We will continue to talk to the west but with suspicion. If they change their policies and we feel that they are in our camp will forgive them for the past bad policies and start all over.

If you are interested please E-mail me. magedtaman@yahoo.com Be brave we are able to stand to the tyrants and extremists. America will not sit with Muslims to see how to liberate us, they have their problems. We are the one who would help them. I doubt we can work through them they need the tyrants to deal with the extremists, we can bypass them to save them the challenge.

A Very Efficient Government Is No Government.

By: Maged Taman

Governments over the ages have been either the source of happiness of its people or sadness and depression. I look at an efficient government as the government that is so efficient that make you feel that there is no government.

It is like you are dealing with a bank that is very efficient and everything goes smooth that you never call the manager. You may not even have much interest to know how they accomplish that but you like it this way. Once a year or so you may ask for curiosity who is the manager or CEO of the bank.I am looking for an efficient government that look the same way. It is so effective that people feel that there is no government.

As you guessed the bank has no party system and is very likely very efficient because of the dedication and harmony of the staff of the bank.

Can we make governments work the same way. My answer is yes if we to do the following:

1- No party system since it had proved to be divisive to the country and allowed dictators to dominate over their countries.

2- Media that supervise every part of the government. It will not be right and left fighting all times. It will not be like: hi, thank you, you are great,..... There will be dialogue but down to business the problem so is better solved this way because of 1 + 1 + --- = s0.

3- No interest groups or outside money that corrupt the government.

4- All mechanisms to prevent the corruption of the government.

5- Weak politicians and strong citizens thus the government officials are serving the public and not vice verse. Politicians are not getting strength through absolute power and authority or through the strength of the party as happens in most third world country.

6- Politicians are more of independent people that in the network in the government and have to work it out between them. They are not a group of common interest or a gang. Their main interest is to make it work.

7- The government will become much less attractive for dominating dictators and corrupt individuals. People are basically will change their attitude towards their leaders and they will be looked at more like CEO's.

8- The government in every country would hold the human values of free speech, women rights, women rights, religious rights... That will make the people happy feeling social justice, equality and freedom.

9- The government overtime with all its intact institutions that allow smooth and very efficient governing system will make people do not feel there is a government and they will worship their God and enjoy their families. Meanwhile we will prevent most causes of wars and social upsets.

New World Order (Moral Utopia Project)

By: Maged Taman

After I made a new plan to restructure the very complicated health care/Medicare/Medicaid and social security in America with a simple health plan that insure every one in America and save billions of dollars every year to the American people I felt that the current world political and economic systems are also very complicated and we have a seriously dangerous world now. We do not have a choice but to restructure the world. You will know how a serious thinker I am before you think I am paranoid if you read my health plan that can be ordered from http://www.trafford.com/.

This plan is an unconditional gift from me to the American people, as well 50% of the profit of the book will go to the families of victims of 09/11. I welcome if any country can choose to apply it . I would ask just to keep my name on the plan (here it comes my little paranoia).Going to the world situation if you read and take the opinion of a lot of thinkers they will tell you the same about the great pitfalls of the current world system and the dysfunctional United Nation. Unfortunately most politicians over the world now adopt more reactive policies to crisis and disorganized short-term policies. A preemptive peace is what needs to be done. A new world system that insure preventing hunger, disease and wars before they happen need to be established.

Terrorism and clash of civilizations can be easily contained by this new system. No one should be feared about it. Though I put here outlines of this system it is only possible by a thorough discussion by a lot of brilliant people all over the world. I believe much in the world wide democracy. I still see the simple tribe system is the best system of democracy. There is no parties, media or institutions but people simply sit together and discuss their affairs in a transparent environment. In Islam there is no certain system of government but simply the leader is elected by any fair way and a consultation system that get input from every individual is implemented. I am still surprised to see people are fearful of Islam, the terrorism is a very unique phenomena and as president Bush himself talked about the hopelessness under repression and tyranny and the need to free people and improve their daily life. I think however the path he is taking to combat terrorism and Iraq first then spread democracy will take very long years.

My new world plan gets all problems solved in one project. Besides the global problems, it addresses the Palestine-Israel conflict, Iranian nuclear projects, Iraq and democracy all in the same time. The new system I am advocating is the one that connect the countries that are members to share the same values of democracy, free market and so forth. One such system can be called American Alliance. This alliance that can replace the current UN or progressively take over this institution. The entry in alliance is both by choice and any country can recede whenever it wants. We will need a national voting for that from the country to join the alliance. However it can not have WMD after joining or if to recede. Most people in the Arab/Muslim countries with having the Support of America will to join the alliance. We will simply overwhelm their governments. The country which would join the alliance has to follow the roles of this alliance.

These roles are:
1- Combating Satan (evil): though people talk a lot of God the world problem is that we are listening to Satan. God is waiting for us it is Satan that we need to outsmart. He wants all of us to be enemies and we end by destruction of the world and our civilization. You can see it well every one is going after his affairs and if we have a third world war every one will loose every thing he had worked for. It does not need a brainer that Satan and evil are winning now in our current world affairs.

2- Harmony between all people: Christians, Jews, Muslims and other religions.

3- Ten commandments/Major sins.

4- Good deeds and morality.

5- Honesty: dishonesty is behind every evil particularly governmental distrust, conspiracies and wars.

6-Virtue: Islam handle this very well: one has to be faithful and not to sin and put the mechanisms to prevent sinning. But if one to sin he should not talk about it and not to be repeated. Talking about sins end by unfairly accusing people, give the sense that sin is everywhere so people sin more. It became a good way to get money from people to get them to sin and then blackmail them. No one in Islam is to spy or trash any one reputation and media could not talk about a sex life of an individual. Simply, no one should know or talk about any one sexual life, it is between him, God and people that are affected by this relation. Satan want us to sin and get the worse consequences of sinning.

7-Democracy.

8-Human rights.

9-Women rights. Note for Muslim women they can work and go as high as they can. Islam protected them with the Islamic uniform and with separation in schools and work from men. The most common problems for women in the west are break of marriage due to infidelity and sexual abuse during work both can be avoided by separation of men and women at work places.

10-Minority rights.

11-Freedom of religion.

12-Absence of corruption in all its forms.

13-Absence of drug production, trafficking or dealing.

14-Justice to every one.

15-absence of any form of discrimination. The American Alliance will oversee most items. It could have anti-corruption section, human right section and so forth in the new UN.Democracy should be overseen in each country by insuring free election, free press and separation of power.

A new political system I see is what I call it the consultation system. No doubt the party system has proved not only to be inefficient, but also a dangerous system for the following reasons:

1- Most of dictators like Hitler and Saddam came through a new national party that incite peoples with crazy ideas for sake of that person greed to power, pseudo-heroism and glorification. Satan does his best job in the world through these evil people.
2-Totalitarian systems like communism strengthen themselves through a party. Every tyrant needs two structures. The upper structure as I see it is the control of media, military, police and most of institutions. The lower structure is through the party which give the people the false feeling of democracy and in the same time get strong support from the people who will benefit from the system as a second army inside the communities so they continue to protect the system.
3- Even in true democratic countries the party system is not working well. politicians are more occupied with politics than policies and for one party to take over the other party has to fail. It is the civilized war Satan is looking for. Many time the political process is not a continuum but new administrations are trying to undo what other ones have done.American politicians should consider that for our sake given above issues. Ultimately America gets dragged on by one way or another when one country political system breaks down. In the old days when people where fighting with swords we would have been well protected here in America.

In the consultation system I purpose:

1- Getting money out of politics and media.
2- Politicians who are running for different positions do not belong to any party. Every one identifies himself by his own position. If you read my health and long term care plan you will find that we will get this very important policy to a great part out of the political struggle.
3- In this system the politicians are well watched with unbiased and very independent and responsible media.
4- The president role is more like a great consultant that gets the most experienced and brightest people to share in decision making. Decision making is more like a consensus and not a monopoly.

The new economic system of the world for the American alliance:

1- Non interest based economy: lending in the Bible and Koran are supposed to lift up the poor. It is abused now it gets the rich people lend their money and make high profits from the poor. Example of such a new system is like selling a car with no interest that can be paid over three years. Same can be done with a lot of goods.

2- New Banking system: banks including the federal banks will function by having availability all time through mutual agreement of supplying money with no interest among them and Federal bank. Money will be lent with no interest to public. A good credit will allow one to borrow higher money amounts. Banks will get profits by cost of service and by selling their mutual funds and other sorts of shares to the public instead of Cd's. But why should people give the money to banks with no interest. For different reasons they would do that, it is safest way to keep money, they will get certain benefits in the future like amount of money to burrow. I think many smart ideas will come from financial experts to have pouring of money in the new banking system. As well by the main Bank of Alliance to supply regular flow of money. One important motivation to keep money in banks is the global development and contributing to abundance of the new economic system and preventing wars.

3- Investment will be mainly through stock market.

4- As the economy is in full power in America it contracts after it expands. It is like a closed room the economy that can not get any bigger. In American alliance economy on the other hand, if the American economy is in full expansion money goes to other economies (spell over) that open new economies and strengthen the American dollar buying power. It is like having a new way to expand linearly the American economy. Suppose with one dollar you buy 5 apples. If the apples are grown in Israel/Palestine, Lebanon..... the one dollar could buy you 15 apples or more.

5- That is what I call economy of abundance compare that by the greedy capitalistic system now where people lend with interest rate. The rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer. In the Alliance or Utopia economy we are lifting every one and strengthening the buying power of dollar. Thus the rich is getting richer (remember money is what it can buy of services and goods, if you have a million dollars and no one is working in the world what you have is only papers).

6-One currency economy: the American dollar will take over every other country currency and can be done gradually. In the future a dollar can have pictures of that country currency and change can be issued by the individuals countries for the small changes. One currency is very important in simplifying and encouraging investment in individual countries.

7- You may say that Americans will loose jobs. In fact their dollar will have higher buying power and my Taman health plan will have money for every American insuring his health care and long term care kept aside. In fact he will be working less hours and enjoying traveling around the world.

8- In order to develop a country the problem has always been the governments: either corruption, bureaucracy or lazy officials. In my plan good banking system will be first established in every country and money can be burrowed by people. Big corporations usually goes after money that will help to develop these countries with burrowing, job creation and paying back cycles repeated over and over we will lift every one in these countries. As you see we will bypass the hands of the officials. The UN will help the big corporations to define resources and potential projects.

9- I am for a simple Tax code like president Bush is seeking to do to be applied in each country. I actually like something in addition in Islam called Zakat or Gezia which in our American alliance can define poverty in each country and the poor defined by income divided by the number of households. People under poverty line get a certain amount of money (2.5% of yearly income of all well to do people go to the poor in same country). Except for my health care/long term care were we protect your money from you so you spend it and keep it only for health and long term care, I prefer people to have the money in their hands. Governments proved to us over the years not to do a good job with our monies.

Why Americans should benefit from such alliance:

1- Preventing third world war, we will be able to keep an eye on global politicians. Through the history America is the one ultimately has to face the bad guys as Hitler, Milosevic and Saddam.

2- America is overwhelmed by the immigrants or potential immigrants.

3- Resolving global terrorism.

4- Developing appropriately the third world and combating poverty.

5- Preventing ethnic cleansing and local wars before they start.

6- Global environmental standards.

7- Benefiting Americans corporations from the best way to invest and grow more.

8- Solving Israel-Palestine conflict.9- Halting Iran and other Muslim countries acquiring WMD.

10-Possible clearing of India and Pakistan of nuclear weapons.

11-Simplifying control of the world. Though the project is large, it is much easier in next decades to control the world. Two complicated problems of the world in the same time could take all time of American politicians. We will be lift by diplomatic alliance with China and Russia. It will be ultimate dream if both as well to join the alliance. The Europeans through their own union or joining the new alliance are likely to continue not to pose threat to the civilized world. With all the world problems and the difficulties of the individual countries to solve their own problems we do not have choice but large alliances. As you see Utopia is not a fantasia it is a most do now.

Why a country would like to join this American Alliance:

1- Protection, a country will be protected by NATO. It will have a small army joining NATO. However it will maintain its police and other local force enforcement agencies.

2- Get help during natural disasters.

3- No one would let to die of hunger in the countries of alliance.

4-Economic development.

5- Freedom of speech, free market, bill of rights and other advantages mentioned above.

We basically will be exporting America to the people with no need for them to come and take jobs from Americans. We will have an unlimited expansion of the American economy. Every country can still enjoy its culture and sovereignty. We will just be avoiding wars and maintaining an eye on global politicians so we do not see another Hitler or Saddam.People may think it is a Messianic dream, the truth is if we are realistic and pragmatic and look to the world from the geopolitical and economic mandate we will reach to the same conclusion. If you go to most third world countries you will find they share same problems and their governments can barely feed them.

If I am promoting all of these ideas I should be considered a pro-Christ, please review the Christ teachings. The world is full of immense economical and political problems and major clash of civilizations. Suppression or exclusion of Muslims from the current political scene does not help the situation but inclusion and dialogue are the answer. Most important now is to open the dialogue. When people talk they will find out they are all humans and have the same goals in life. The desire of domination and excluding other civilizations is in fact fruitless. If the Messiah comes I will be happy to step aside and let him take over. There is no obligations, the plan should be discussed openly and people, not only the few world politicians to give their opinions. If we to wait for the rupture, good luck I never saw this word in the Bible. It is the new trick to keep the status quo of the world and oppress any novel ideas.

Taman Health Plan: Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and Health Care: One Plan

By: Maged Taman

Americans' Future In One Plan: Taman Health Plan (http://www.trafford.com/04-1619 ) takes care of all the health care, Medicare, Medicaid and social security. It will threw all bureaucracies out of window. Let me explain shortly how it works:

1- there will be no more health care insurance companies, no Medicare, Medicaid or Social Security. My plan will take care of all.

2- Basically will be only one Big Health care organization (Taman Health Plan or THP).

3- The center of the plan will be in Washington while the health departments in every state will be the branches.

4- One organized body will be taking care of the Health Care and long term care of all Americans replacing 1500 insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.

5- This will allow us to provide a uniform service to all Americans every where in both inpatients, outpatients and long term care.

6- When you go to any Duncan Donuts branch your expectation is to have a fresh coffee and a donut with no long wait. We will try to provide a similar predictable service everywhere as Duncan Donuts. With having only one body will be able to do that.

7- The Capital of the plan will be the funds of Medicare and Social Security (before the bankruptcy of both systems). The maintenance will be a yearly tax from each of us (will replace our yearly social security and Medicare holding taxes). A percent of each of us go to his account cards and a percent go to THP itself. The money of the plan will be invested by the investing sector of the plan very likely in Wall Street.

8- We will have 5 ATM cards with a corresponding accounts.
Card A (children),
Card B (working group 18-65years old),
Card C (Medicare card >65 years old),
Card D (Medicaid card),
Card E ( expensive medicines or investigations).

We will have the health cards devoted to health care and long term care. Thus we will have: health cards, banks with accounts to each card and credit card machines in outpatients care and hotelling part of hospitals and nursing homes.

9- Cards will pay for the outpatient medical care including doctors, emergency room visits, investigations, medical supplies, pharmacies and the hotelling part of hospitals and nursing homes. While the medical part of hospitals and nursing homes will be budget by the plan itself.

10- In the first year of issuing cards: Card B and C (most of people) will have a bonus it could be a percent of their Medicare and social security withholding (70 % or so). We will try to be fair to every one but every one has to know that most of us already lost a lot of money with the HMO's. For next year new comers to card B at age of 18 when first issued will have a bonus of 50,000 dollars. It will change every year by a percent a according to inflation.

11- every one of us will get a statement every one or two months of his card account. Card B account will phase in card C at the age of 65. If card C account is vanished Card D will be issued (hoteling part will be less luxurious). Only few of Card B will have card D if there account vanish most likely those with severe medical problems.

12- So basically most of us will have our own account Card B then card C. Say you are 45 and you have now in your account $ 200,000 you can take one or more years out of work, you Can retire early if you like and with your card you will control all the medical services and its prices.

13- With this card system we will end all bureaucracies of health care, Medicare and Medicaid. No one will stand between you and any medical or long term service (only your card). Shop around with you card, have early health care security and responsibility and invest in your health.

14- We will not need Social Security since after age of 65 we will be able to use our cards to stay in any nursing home each according to his account in card C or card D. So when you invest well in your health you will be able to enjoy a nicer nursing home when you get old (actually it will be also a kind of tourism).

15- The money in cards do not get inherited when we pass away but recycle in the plan to support the next generations.

16- The plan will have very positive effects not only in simplifying our care, save a lot of waste in health care, give early health care security and responsibility to Americans it will also have a positive effect on the economy, saving billions of dollars to Americans, creating jobs in health care and cutting outsourcing.

Very likely, you figure it out by now I could have sold the plan to one of the presidential candidate before the 2004 election for millions of dollars (they had spent 2 billion dollars in campaign). I could have done the same this 2008 presidential election. It is my gift to the American people (it will help the healing process of the two worlds America and the Muslim/Arabs). At that time of 2004 I sent this plan to big organizations in America in health care, political and others. I was trying to negotiate through this plan to have freedom in the Arab world. This does not mean that we will go and invade each one but will create the strong political will to make drastic changes in these countries. The American government did not allow me or my plan to see the light since they did not want their close tyrant friends in the Arab world to be threatened.

These are the benefits to the American people:

1- Insure all Americans for health care.
2- Take care of the entitlements of all programs as above.
3- Save billions of dollars to America every year.
4- Give to the Americans early health care security and responsibility.
5- Inject the American economy by the right stimulus in health care and long care to stimulate the economy.
6- Creating more jobs that is difficult to outsource.
7- Give the Americans the freedom to be off from work for months or years without socialism.
8- Will diminish much the hidden deficit in health care which will diminish the yearly budget deficit and debt.
9- Will save a lot of lives 18,000 are lost yearly due to lack of insurance.
10- Will cut much in crimes and incarcerations that many times are related to hopelessness, lack of health and long term security and resentment.

The American Government have blocked me for few years to talk to the public since they do not want people to know me, particularly Muslims and to take me seriously. This plan is still my gift to the American people if there leaders will change their positions in the world.
