A World With No Politics

By: Maged Taman

Most of us loved the song of Imagine to John Lennon even people who are religious because of the music, voice and the meaning. The song asks us to Imagine what the world with no religion could be. However most of time wars were for domination, expansion, glory and revenge rather than relgions. There are a lot of wars that were related to religions, any religion. However, it is most of the time it is not the religions but the politics of using religions. The deeper meaning of the John Lennon is to imagine having no religion and no God to fight for. How about if we to have religion and a God we find peace in.

If you examine the major religions like Islam and Christianity politics played an important role. Politicians used the religious scholars and institutes for their control of power. You find in most of Muslim counties now the politicians hire the religious establishment. In few of them the religious establishment hire the politicians.

According to Wikipedia: Politics consists of "social relations involving authority or power"[1] and refers to the regulation of a political unit,[2] and to the methods and tactics used to formulate and apply policy.[3] The best power that politicians can lead from is that of Divine choice of leaders or blessing of the holy religious scholars. To make it even more powerful the Pharaohs and kings of the old empires were Gods themselves or related to the Gods.

Even with real religions in Judaism kings were trying to manipulate the prophets and in Christianity the Pope had a strong political role that was abused at certain times of history. In Islam scholars were used to advance the governors aspirations and interests. Though, in these three religions there is no true spelling that a king/president is a God, but he may have an authority that is protected and unchallenged by the religious authorities particularly so in Islam.

One of the reason of the advance of the Jews is the absence of oppressive religious-political hegemony like Muslims have. It gives them the free, dialouging and creative mind.

Can politics be separated from religion? the answer is simple if we use the common morals of the religions instead of the divisive aspects in religions in the world of the politics.

An even more difficult question can be a world with no politics?. In order to answer that we have to go to the definition again: Politics consists of "social relations involving authority or power"[1] and refers to the regulation of a political unit,[2] and to the methods and tactics used to formulate and apply policy.[3] Thus you need an authority to have a social order that shape itself as a political unit and able to use tactics to advance its policies.

The thing you can do is to have this political social authority, political units and tactics that is very efficient and works with great harmony, effectiveness and with no noise. How it can work with no noise where is the ego of politicians will go, where the interest group with all its noise in the halls and media will go and how to minimize tactics when tactics are used more than policies. Where is the public in the middle of that.

The simple answer is to wait for Jesus (PBUH) and his saints to come. Thus you will have saints to be the politicians and they will have to be very knowledgeable beyond their religious knowledge. Thus you have to wait for the kingdom of God. The realistic approach is not to wait until this happen but get the world of politics to be close enough.

The new American administration is shaping itself to a new era of politics and policies. We to pray for their success if in their hearts the justice and sincerity to lift all of us up. Spiritually they have to understand that God put them in these positions for good reason. They have to play the minimal of politics and the major of policies.
