Speech in the Quran

By: Maged Taman

1- God created in us the ability to make the intelligent speech: we vary in that. We have the inborn abilities that improve with learning including reading the wise speech the Quran.
55:1 The Beneficent الرَّحْمَنُ (55:1) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
55:2 Hath made known the Quran. (55:2) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
55:3 He hath created man. (55:3) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
55:4 He has taught him speech (and intelligence). (55:4) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi

2- God guide the faithful to the purest of speech:

22:24 For they have been guided (in this life) to the purest of speeches; they have been guided to the Path of Him Who is Worthy of (all) Praise. (22:24) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi

3- The best speech is calling people to the way of God:

41:33 Who is better in speech than one who calls (men) to Allah, works righteousness, and says, "I am of those who bow in Islam"? (41:33) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi

4- God gave some people the decisive speech: like he did with king Solomon. The decisive speech is: clear, short , wise and have the convincing proofs.

38:20 We strengthened his (Solomon) kingdom, and gave him wisdom and sound judgment in speech and decision. (38:20) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi

5- God wants us to speak straight to the point:

33:70 O ye who believe! Guard your duty to Allah, and speak words straight to the point; -
(33:70) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi

6- We to use the kinder of speech: Satan use speech to create animosity between us.

14:24 Seest thou not how Allah sets forth a parable? - A goodly word like a goodly tree, whose root is firmly fixed, and its branches (reach) to the heavens,- of its Lord. So Allah sets forth parables for men, in order that they may receive admonition. (14:24) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi

14:26 And the parable of an evil word is that of an evil tree: It is torn up by the root from the surface of the earth: it has no stability. (14:26) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi

17:53 Tell My bondmen to speak that which is kindlier. Lo! the devil soweth discord among them. Lo! the devil is for man an open foe. (17:53) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi

7- The kinder of speech is particularly to the parents: it is specially stressed as they get older since they may be more uptight and not even rational many times this related to diseases that affect us at that age like dementia. At time of the prophet people were less aware about this incapacitation.

17:23 Thy Lord hath decreed, that ye worship none save Him, and (that ye show) kindness to parents. If one of them or both of them to attain old age with thee, say not "Fie" unto them nor repulse them, but speak unto them a gracious word. (17:23) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi

8- However the exception is speaking about injustice: you have the right to uncover injustice and people wickedness. A kind speech here is cowardliness. It is specially so when tried the kind speech and did not work.

4:148 Allah loveth not that evil should be noised abroad in public speech, except where injustice hath been done; for Allah is He who heareth and knoweth all things. (4:148) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi

9- You can know people intention of speech by the tone of speech:

47:30 Had We so willed, We could have shown them (hypocrites) up to thee, and thou shouldst have known them by their marks: but surely thou wilt know them by the tone of their speech! And Allah knows all that ye do. (47:30) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi

10-God know all our open speech and our hidden speech:

21:110 "It is He Who knows what is open in speech and what ye hide (in your hearts). (21:110) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
