Arrogance and Guidance

سَأَصْرِفُ عَنْ آيَاتِيَ الَّذِينَ يَتَكَبَّرُونَ فِي الأَرْضِ بِغَيْرِ الْحَقِّ وَإِن يَرَوْاْ كُلَّ آيَةٍ لاَّ يُؤْمِنُواْ بِهَا وَإِن يَرَوْاْ سَبِيلَ الرُّشْدِ لاَ يَتَّخِذُوهُ سَبِيلاً وَإِن يَرَوْاْ سَبِيلَ الْغَيِّ يَتَّخِذُوهُ سَبِيلاً ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَذَّبُواْ بِآيَاتِنَا وَكَانُواْ عَنْهَا غَافِلِينَ (7:146)
7:146 (Y. Ali) Those who behave arrogantly on the earth in defiance of right - them will I turn away from My signs: Even if they see all the signs, they will not believe in them; and if they see the way of right conduct, they will not adopt it as the way; but if they see the way of error, that is the way they will adopt. For they have rejected our signs, and failed to take warning from them.

Again you see how God is in control. Like all the verses of the Quran you feel the great authority of the speaker and his absolute confidence. Compare that with the regular sayings of the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) where you do not find that if anything you find his humility being a slave of God.
God describe how their arrogance and defiance will cause them to be blind of God signs. God hardens their heart more and make them do not recognize the right from the wrong. Thus he and not them in control. If they were on the other hand willing to strive to find the truth they would not be this way and God will guide them to the right way.

وَٱلَّذِينَ جَٰهَدُوا فِينَا لَنَهْدِيَنَّهُمْ سُبُلَنَا ۚ وَإِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَمَعَ ٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ
“And those who strive for Us— We will surely guide them to Our ways.” (Qur’an, 29:69).

If you noticed in the Quran God talk about his path as one in many verses but pleural in the above verse since it is how many ways God get believe in him and his Quran.
