Astronomy In Quran (Chapters / Verses of Astronomy in Quran)

From: http://www.quranfromallah.com/Topics/Quran-Astronomy.html

Indeed your Lord is Allah, Who created the heavens and the earth in Six Days, and then He Istawa (rose over) the Throne (really in a manner that suits His Majesty). He brings the night as a cover over the day, seeking it rapidly, and (He created) the sun, the moon, the stars subjected to His Command. Surely, His is the Creation and Commandment. Blessed be Allah, the Lord of the Alameen (mankind, jinns and all that exists)! (Quran 7:54)

See you not that Allah has subjected to you (mankind) all that is on the earth, and the ships that sail through the sea by His Command? He withholds the heaven from falling on the earth except by His Leave. Verily, Allah is, for mankind, full of Kindness, Most Merciful. (Quran 22:65)

It is He Who made the sun a shining thing and the moon as a light and measured out its (their) stages, that you might know the number of years and the reckoning. Allah did not create this but in truth. He explains the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) in detail for people who have knowledge. (Quran 10:5)

And He has subjected to you the night and the day, the sun and the moon; and the stars are subjected by His Command. Surely, in this are proofs for people who understand. (Quran 16:12)
And He it is Who has created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, each in an orbit floating. (Quran 21:33)

See you not that to Allah prostrates whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth, and the sun, and the moon, and the stars, and the mountains, and the trees, and Ad-Dawab (moving living creatures, beasts, etc.), and many of mankind? But there are many (men) on whom the punishment is justified. And whomsoever Allah disgraces, none can honour him. Verily! Allah does what He wills. (Quran 22:18)

For them there will be therein all that they desire, and they will abide (there forever). It is a promise binding upon your Lord that must be fulfilled. (Quran 25:61)

If you were to ask them: "Who has created the heavens and the earth and subjected the sun and the moon?" They will surely reply: "Allah." How then are they deviating (as polytheists and disbelievers)? (Quran 29:61)

And from among His Signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Prostrate not to the sun nor to the moon, but prostrate to Allah Who created them, if you (really) worship Him. (Quran 41:37)

The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has been cleft asunder (the people of Makkah requested Prophet Muhammad SAW to show them a miracle, so he showed them the splitting of the moon). (Quran 54:1)

And has made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? (Quran 71:16)
Nay, and by the moon, (Quran 74:32)

And by the moon when it is at the full, (Quran 84:18)

And by the moon as it follows it (the sun); (Quran 91:2)

(He is the) Cleaver of the daybreak. He has appointed the night for resting, and the sun and the moon for reckoning. Such is the measuring of the AllMighty, the AllKnowing. (Quran 6:96)

Allah is He Who raised the heavens without any pillars that you can see. Then, He Istawa (rose above) the Throne (really in a manner that suits His Majesty). He has subjected the sun and the moon (to continue going round)! Each running (its course) for a term appointed. He regulates all affairs, explaining the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) in detail, that you may believe with certainty in the meeting with your Lord. (Quran 13:2)

And He has made the sun and the moon, both constantly pursuing their courses, to be of service to you; and He has made the night and the day, to be of service to you. (Quran 14:33)

And He it is Who has created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon, each in an orbit floating. (Quran 21:33)

See you not (O Muhammad SAW) that Allah merges the night into the day (i.e. the decrease in the hours of the night are added in the hours of the day), and merges the day into the night (i.e. the decrease in the hours of day are added in the hours of night), and has subjected the sun and the moon, each running its course for a term appointed; and that Allah is AllAware of what you do. (Quran 31:29)

He merges the night into the day (i.e. the decrease in the hours of the night are added to the hours of the day), and He merges the day into the night (i.e. the decrease in the hours of the day are added to the hours of the night). And He has subjected the sun and the moon, each runs its course for a term appointed. Such is Allah your Lord; His is the kingdom. And those, whom you invoke or call upon instead of Him, own not even a Qitmeer (the thin membrane over the datestone). (Quran 35:13)

And the sun runs on its fixed course for a term (appointed). That is the Decree of the All-Mighty, the All-Knowing. (Quran 36:38)

And the moon, We have measured for it mansions (to traverse) till it returns like the old dried curved date stalk. (Quran 36:39)

It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in an orbit. (Quran 36:40)

The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). (Quran 55:5)

Have you not seen how your Lord spread the shadow. If He willed, He could have made it still then We have made the sun its guide (i.e. after the sunrise, it (the shadow) squeezes and vanishes at midnoon and then again appears in the afternoon with the decline of the sun, and had there been no sun light, there would have been no shadow). (Quran 25:45)

And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). (Quran 78:13)

When the sun Kuwwirat (wound round and lost its light and is overthrown ). (Quran 81:1)

And by the sun and its brightness; (Quran 91:1)

It is He Who has set the stars for you, so that you may guide your course with their help through the darkness of the land and the sea. We have (indeed) explained in detail Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, Revelations, etc.) for people who know. (Quran 6:97)

And landmarks (signposts, etc. during the day) and by the stars (during the night), they (mankind) guide themselves. (Quran 16:16)

And indeed, We have put the big stars in the heaven and We beautified it for the beholders. (Quran 15:16)

Blessed be He Who has placed in the heaven big stars, and has placed therein a great lamp (sun), and a moon giving light. (Quran 25:61)

By the heaven, holding the big stars. (Quran 85:1)

Verily! Allah grasps the heavens and the earth lest they move away from their places, and if they were to move away from their places, there is not one that could grasp them after Him. Truly, He is Ever Most Forbearing, OftForgiving. (Quran 35:41)

We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. (Quran 44:39)

And Allah has created the heavens and the earth with truth, in order that each person may be recompensed what he has earned, and they will not be wronged. (Quran 45:22)

We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them except with truth, and for an appointed term. But those who disbelieve turn away from that whereof they are warned. (Quran 46:3)

He has created the heavens and the earth with truth, and He shaped you and made good your shapes, and to Him is the final Return. (Quran 64:3)

By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. (Quran 86:11)
See they not what is before them and what is behind them, of the heaven and the earth? If We will, We shall sink the earth with them, or cause a piece of the heaven to fall upon them. Verily, in this is a sign for every faithful believer that (believes in the Oneness of Allah), and turns to Allah (in all affairs with humility and in repentance). (Quran 34:9)

And by the planets that move swiftly and hide themselves, (Quran 81:16)
And that He (Allah) is the Lord of Sirius (the star which the pagan Arabs used to worship); (Quran 53:49)

Then did he cast a glance at the Stars. (Quran 37:88)

By the heaven full of paths, (Quran 51:7)

By those (angels) who pull out (the souls of the disbelievers and the wicked) with great violence; (Quran 79:1)

And when the stars shall fall; (Quran 81:2)

(It is) the star of piercing brightness; (Quran 86:3)

And (remember) when Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), said: "O Children of Israel! I am the Messenger of Allah unto you confirming the Taurat ((Torah) which came) before me, and giving glad tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmed . But when he (Ahmed i.e. Muhammad SAW) came to them with clear proofs, they said: "This is plain magic." (Quran 37:6)

Then He completed and finished from their creation (as) seven heavens in two Days and He made in each heaven its affair. And We adorned the nearest (lowest) heaven with lamps (stars) to be an adornment as well as to guard (from the devils by using them as missiles against the devils). Such is the Decree of Him the All-Mighty, the All-Knower. (Quran 41:12)

And indeed We have adorned the nearest heaven with lamps, and We have made such lamps (as) missiles to drive away the Shayatin (devils), and have prepared for them the torment of the blazing Fire. (Quran 67:5)

By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); (Quran 79:2)

And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). (Quran 79:3)

And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). (Quran 79:4)

So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). (Quran 81:15)

And (remember) when Moosa (Moses) said to his people: "O my people! Why do you hurt me while you know certainly that I am the Messenger of Allah to you? So when they turned away (from the Path of Allah), Allah turned their hearts away (from the Right Path). And Allah guides not the people who are Fasiqoon (rebellious, disobedient to Allah). (Quran 37:5)

(He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). (Quran 55:17)

So I swear by the Lord of all (the three hundred and sixty (360)) points of sunrise and sunset in the east and the west that surely We are Able (Quran 70:40)

So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; (Quran 84:16)
