Alif Laam Raa. A book which we have revealed to you (Muhammad) so that you may lead the people from out of the darknesses into the light by their Lord's leave to the path of the All-Mighty, the Praiseworthy." The Holy Qur'an, Chapter 14,Verse 1
The Qur'an is a Message from Allah to humanity. It was transmitted to us in a chain starting from the Almighty Himself (swt) to the angel Gabriel to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). This message was given to the Prophet (pbuh) in pieces over a period spanning approximately 23 years (610 CE to 622 CE). The Prophet (pbuh) was 40 years old when the Qur'an began to be revealed to him, and he was 63 when the revelation was completed. The language of the original message was Arabic, but it has been translated into many other languages.

In this verse simple words clear to mankind: The book (the Quran) is the guide to mankind from darkness to light as ordained by God and lead us to the straight path.
The world without the light of the Quran is wickedness and when there is wickedness and corruption you find wars, crimes, oppression and injustices. The light of Quran compared by this wickedness is the truth and being clean both inside and outside (fear God as the best as you could). It is the way when you live with fearing God and finding him in all our daily lives. God chose one of us prophet Muhammad and he is the way to him or the conduit to his message. He followed chain of prophets as Jesus. He did not see God but had the overwhealming proofs that he was talking to him through Angel Gabriel and through visions even his own hadith was in most part inspiration from God. In the few instances God corrected him it was clear in the Quran he did that. We do not have any explanation to the Quran and Hadith but being from God. He was an illiterate Arabic man who did not produce any thing in litrature significant before the sudden inspiration of God came to him and he did not even keep up with the Arab poems or literature. As God mentioned in the Quran "we will make you recite (the Quran) and do not forget". He amazingly did that and recited the Quran in his prayers with Muslims behind him and around the Jews and Christians of his time. The Jews would ask him about something like prophet Joseph and God would bring the verses in the Quran inspired on him and come into his soul and heart. No one saw him thinking about the verses of the Quran or writing them down or anyone teaching him. No editing and no correction of grammar or structure after the words came into him. We did no hear about some of his friends say that: you forget the verses so and you missed it in your reading or you forgot or mixed words, his biography was recorded day by day as the history proved to us. The Quran remained the everlasting miracle of the prophet and will remain so to the end of this world.
