42:52 Thou knewest not what the Scripture was, nor what the Faith

42:52 And thus have We inspired in thee (Muhammad) a Spirit of Our command. Thou knewest not what the Scripture was, nor what the Faith. But We have made it a light whereby We guide whom We will of Our bondmen. And lo! thou verily dost guide unto a right path. وَكَذَلِكَ أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ رُوحًا مِّنْ أَمْرِنَا مَا كُنتَ تَدْرِي مَا الْكِتَابُ وَلَا الْإِيمَانُ وَلَكِن جَعَلْنَاهُ نُورًا نَّهْدِي بِهِ مَنْ نَّشَاء مِنْ عِبَادِنَا وَإِنَّكَ لَتَهْدِي إِلَى صِرَاطٍ مُّسْتَقِيمٍ (42:52)

42:52 And thus have We inspired in thee (Muhammad) a Spirit of Our command: God inspired the prophet with the Quran by his spirit the Angel Gabriel.

Thou knewest not what the Scripture was, nor what the Faith: Muhammad before the start of the inspiration was lost, he used to meditate in the cave of Hera but he did not know faith or scripture. He knew there is higher being that he was searching for. God chose to him to his message for his high moral and sincere search like with Abraham.

But We have made it a light whereby We guide whom We will of Our bondmen: The Quran is the light God gave to Muhammad to guide among mankind who he choose to guide.

And lo! thou verily dost guide unto a right path: The miracle here is that one who he did not know scripture or what is faith God guided mankind through him to the light of Islam. This is the miracle of God a prophet who did not know what faith, was not knowing to write or read, did not study religions or scripture, did not have any piece of literature of his work to be known to him before the message suddenly guide humans to their true religion. God talked to him and us in the Quran about faith with what all related to it.

See the great meanings of one verse of the Quran with compact knowledge and marvelous language. In every part of the verse you feel the glory and authority of the speaker who is talking to Muhammad. It is not Muhammad talking to himself or a demon talking to Muhammad.
