13. Ar-Ra'ad - (The Thunder)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.¡
En el nombre de Alá, el Compasivo, el Misericordioso!

English Pickthall: [13:1]Alif. Lam. Mim. Ra. These are verses of the Scripture. That which is revealed unto thee from thy Lord is the Truth, but most of mankind believe not.
Spanish: [13:1]'lmr. Ésas son las aleyas de la Escritura. Lo que se te ha revelado, de parte de tu Señor, es la verdad, pero la mayoría de los hombres no creen.

English Pickthall: [13:2]Allah it is Who raised up the heavens without visible supports, then mounted the Throne, and compelled the sun and the moon to be of service, each runneth unto an appointed term; He ordereth the course; He detaileth the revelations, that haply ye may be certain of the meeting with your Lord.
Spanish: [13:2]Alá es quien elevó los cielos sin pilares visibles. Luego, se instaló en el Trono y sujetó el sol y la luna, prosiguiendo los dos su curso hacia un término fijo. Él lo dispone todo. Explica detalladamente los signos. Quizás, así, estéis convencidos del encuentro de vuestro

English Pickthall: [13:3]And He it is Who spread out the earth and placed therein firm hills and flowing streams, and of all fruits He placed therein two spouses (male and female). He covereth the night with the day. Lo! herein verily are portents for people who take thought.
Spanish: [13:3]Él es quien ha extendido la tierra y puesto en ella montañas firmes, ríos y una pareja en cada fruto. Cubre el día con la noche. Ciertamente, hay en ello signos para gente que reflexiona.

English Pickthall: [13:4]And in the Earth are neighbouring tracts, vineyards and ploughed lands, and date-palms, like and unlike, which are watered with one water. And we have made some of them to excel others in fruit. Lo! herein verily are portents for people who have sense.
Spanish: [13:4]En la tierra hay parcelas de terreno colindantes, viñedos, cereales, palmeras de tronco simple o múltiple. Todo lo riega una misma agua, pero hacemos que unos frutos sean mejores que otros. Ciertamente, hay en ello signos para gente que razona.

English Pickthall: [13:5]And if thou wonderest, then wondrous is their saying: When we are dust, are we then forsooth (to be raised) in a new creation ? Such are they who disbelieve in their Lord; such have carcans on their necks; such are rightful owners of the Fire, they will abide therein.
Spanish: [13:5]Si de algo te asombras, asómbrate de su palabra: «Cuando seamos tierra, ¿es verdad que se nos creará de nuevo?» Ésos son los que niegan a su Señor, ésos los que llevarán argollas al cuello, ésos los moradores del Fuego, eternamente.

English Pickthall: [13:6]And they bid thee hasten on the evil rather than the good, when exemplary punishments have indeed occurred before them. But lo! thy Lord is rich in pardon for mankind despite their wrong, and lo! thy Lord is strong in punishment.
Spanish: [13:6]Te piden que precipites el mal antes que el bien, aun habiendo precedido castigos ejemplares. Tu Señor es el que perdona a los hombres, a pesar de su impiedad. Pero también tu Señor es severo en castigar.

English Pickthall: [13:7]Those who disbelieve say: If only some portent were sent down upon him from his Lord! Thou art a warner only, and for every folk a guide.
Spanish: [13:7]Los infieles dicen: «¿Por qué no se le ha revelado un signo procedente de su Señor?» Tú eres sólo uno que advierte y cada pueblo tiene quien le dirija.

English Pickthall: [13:8]Allah knoweth that which every female beareth and that which the wombs absorb and that which they grow. And everything with Him is measured.
Spanish: [13:8]Alá sabe lo que cada hembra lleva y cuándo se contrae el útero, cuándo se dilata. Todo lo tiene medido.

English Pickthall: [13:9]He is the Knower of the Invisible and the Visible, the Great, the High Exalted.
Spanish: [13:9]El Conocedor de lo oculto y de lo patente, el Grande, el Sublime.

English Pickthall: [13:10]Alike of you is he who hideth the saying and he who noiseth it abroad, he who lurketh in the night and he who goeth freely in the daytime.
Spanish: [13:10]Da lo mismo que uno de vosotros diga algo en secreto o lo divulgue, se esconda de noche o se muestre de día.

English Pickthall: [13:11]For him are angels ranged before him and behind him, who guard him by Allah's command. Lo! Allah changeth not the condition of a folk until they (first) change that which is in their hearts; and if Allah willeth misfortune for a folk there is none that can repel it, nor have they a defender beside Him.
Spanish: [13:11]Tiene, por delante y por detrás, pegados a él, que le custodian por orden de Alá. Alá no cambiará la condición de un pueblo mientras éste no cambie lo que en sí tiene. Pero, si Alá quiere mal a un pueblo, no hay manera de evitarlo: fuera de Él, no tienen amigo.

English Pickthall: [13:12]He it is Who showeth you the lightning, a fear and a hope, and raiseth the heavy clouds.
Spanish: [13:12]Él es quien os hace ver el relámpago, motivo de temor y de anhelo, Él quien forma los nubarrones.

English Pickthall: [13:13]The thunder hymneth His praise and (so do) the angels for awe of Him. He launcheth the thunderbolts and smiteth with them whom He will while they dispute (in doubt) concerning Allah, and He is mighty in wrath.
Spanish: [13:13]Por temor a Él, el trueno celebra Sus alabanzas, y los ángeles también. Él envía los rayos y hiere con ellos a quien Él quiere, mientras discuten sobre Alá, pues es fuerte en poderío.

English Pickthall: [13:14]Unto Him is the real prayer. Those unto whom they pray beside Allah respond to them not at all, save as (is the response to) one who stretcheth forth his hands toward water (asking) that it may come unto his mouth, and it will never reach it. The prayer of disbelievers goeth (far) astray.
Spanish: [13:14]La verdadera invocación es la que se dirige a Él. Los que invocan a otros, en lugar de invocarle a Él, no serán escuchados nada. Les pasará, más bien, como a quien, deseando alcanzar el agua con la boca, se contenta con extender hacia ella las manos y no lo consigue. La invocación de los infieles es inútil.

English Pickthall: [13:15]And unto Allah falleth prostrate whosoever is in the heavens and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, as do their shadows in the morning and the evening hours.
Spanish: [13:15]Ante Alá se prosternan mañana y tarde los que están en los cielos y en la tierra, de grado o por fuerza, así como sus sombras.

English Pickthall: [13:16]Say (O Muhammad): Who is Lord of the heavens and the earth ? Say: Allah. Say: Take ye then (others) beside Him for protectors, which, even for themselves, have neither benefit nor hurt ? Say: Is the blind man equal to the seer, or is darkness equal to light ? Or assign they unto Allah partners who created the like of His creation so that the creation (which they made and His creation) seemed alike to them ? Say: Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is the One, the Almighty.
Spanish: [13:16]Di: «¿Quién es el Señor de los cielos y de la tierra?» Di: «¡Alá!» Di: «¿Y tomaréis, en lugar de tomarle a Él, a amigos que no disponen para sí mismos de lo que puede aprovechar o dañar?» Di: «¿Son iguales el ciego y el vidente? ¿Son iguales las tinieblas y la luz? ¿Han dado a Alá asociados que hayan creado algo como lo que Él ha creado, al punto de llegar a confundir lo creado?» Di: «Alá es el Creador de todo. Él es el Uno, el Invicto».

English Pickthall: [13:17]He sendeth down water from the sky, so that valleys flow according to their measure, and the flood beareth (on its surface) swelling foam - from that which they smelt in the fire in order to make ornaments and tools riseth a foam like unto it - thus Allah coineth (the similitude of) the true and the false. Then, as for the foam, it passeth away as scum upon the banks, while, as for that which is of use to mankind, it remaineth in the earth. Thus Allah coineth the similitudes.
Spanish: [13:17]Ha hecho bajar del cielo agua, que se desliza por los valles, según la capacidad de éstos. El torrente arrastra una espuma flotante, semejante a la escoria que se produce en la fundición para fabricar joyas o utensilios. Así habla Alá en símil de la Verdad y de lo falso: la espuma se pierde; en cambio, queda en la tierra lo útil a los hombres. Así propone Alá los símiles.
English Pickthall: [13:18]For those who answered Allah's call is bliss; and for those who answered not His call, if they had all that is in the earth, and therewith the like thereof, they would proffer it as ransom. Such will have a woeful reckoning, and their habitation will be hell, a dire abode.
Spanish: [13:18]Los que escuchen a su Señor tendrán , lo mejor. A los que no Le escuchen, aunque posean todo lo que hay en la tierra y otro tanto y lo ofrezcan como rescate, les irá mal al ajustar las cuentas. Su morada será la gehena. ¡Qué mal lecho...!

English Pickthall: [13:19]Is he who knoweth that what is revealed unto thee from thy Lord is the truth like him who is blind ? But only men of understanding heed;
Spanish: [13:19]Quien sepa que lo que tu Señor te ha ir; revelado es la Verdad, ¿será como el ciego? Sólo se dejan amonestar los dotados de intelecto.

English Pickthall: [13:20]Such as keep the pact of Allah, and break not the covenant;
Spanish: [13:20]Quienes observan fielmente la alianza con Alá y no violan lo pactado,

English Pickthall: [13:21]Such as unite that which Allah hath commandeth should be joined, and fear their Lord, and dread a woeful reckoning;
Spanish: [13:21]quienes mantienen los lazos que Alá ha ordenado mantener y tienen miedo de su Señor y de que les vaya mal al ajustar las cuentas,

English Pickthall: [13:22]Such as persevere in seeking their Lord's Countenance and are regular in prayer and spend of that which We bestow upon them secretly and openly, and overcome evil with good. Theirs will be the sequel of the (heavenly) Home,
Spanish: [13:22]quienes tienen paciencia por deseo de agradar a su Señor, hacen la azalá, dan limosna, en secreto o en público, de lo que les hemos proveído y repelen el mal con el bien, ésos tendrán la Morada Postrera,

English Pickthall: [13:23]Gardens of Eden which they enter, along with all who do right of their fathers and their helpmeets and their seed. The angels enter unto them from every gate,
Spanish: [13:23]los jardines del edén, en que entrarán, junto con aquéllos de sus padres, esposas y descendientes que fueron buenos. Los ángeles entrarán en donde ellos estén, por todas partes:

English Pickthall: [13:24](Saying): Peace be unto you because ye persevered. Ah, passing sweet will be the sequel of the (heavenly) Home.
Spanish: [13:24]«¡Paz sobre vosotros, por haber tenido paciencia!» ¡Qué agradable será la Morada Postrera!

English Pickthall: [13:25]And those who break the covenant of Allah after ratifying it, and sever that which Allah hath commanded should be joined, and make mischief in the earth: theirs is the curse and theirs the ill abode.
Spanish: [13:25]Pero quienes violan la alianza con Alá después de haberla contraído, cortan los lazos que Alá ha ordenado mantener y corrompen en la tierra, ésos serán malditos y tendrán una Morada detestable.

English Pickthall: [13:26]Allah enlargeth livelihood for whom He will, and straiteneth (it for whom He will); and they rejoice in the life of the world, whereas the life of the world is but brief comfort as compared with the Hereafter.
Spanish: [13:26]Alá dispensa el sustento a quien Él quiere: a unos con largueza, a otros con mesura. Se han regocijado en la vida de acá y la vida de acá no es, comparada con la otra, sino breve disfrute...

English Pickthall: [13:27]Those who disbelieve say: If only a portent were sent down upon him from his Lord! Say: Lo! Allah sendeth whom He will astray, and guideth unto Himself all who turn (unto Him),
Spanish: [13:27]Los infieles dicen: «¿Por qué no se le ha revelado un signo que procede de su Señor?» Di: «Alá extravía a quien Él quiere y dirige a Él a quien se arrepiente».

English Pickthall: [13:28]Who have believed and whose hearts have rest in the remembrance of Allah. Verily in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest!
Spanish: [13:28]Quienes crean, aquéllos cuyos corazones se tranquilicen con el recuerdo de Alá -¿cómo no van a tranquilizarse los corazones con el recuerdo de Alá?-,

English Pickthall: [13:29]Those who believe and do right: Joy is for them, and bliss (their) journey's end.
Spanish: [13:29]quienes crean y obren bien, serán bienaventurados y tendrán un bello lugar de retorno.

English Pickthall: [13:30]Thus We send thee (O Muhammad) unto a nation, before whom other nations have passed away, that thou mayst recite unto them that which We have inspired in thee, while they are disbelievers in the Beneficent. Say: He is my Lord; there is no God save Him. In Him do I put my trust and unto Him is my recourse.
Spanish: [13:30]Así te hemos enviado a una comunidad que fue precedida de otras, para que les recites lo que te hemos revelado, pero niegan al Compasivo. Di: «¡Es mi Señor! No hay más dios que Él. En Él confío y a Él me vuelvo arrepentido».

English Pickthall: [13:31]Had it been possible for a Lecture to cause the mountains to move, or the earth to be torn asunder, or the dead to speak, (this Qur'an would have done so). Nay, but Allah's is the whole command. Do not those who believe know that, had Allah willed, He could have guided all mankind ? As for those who disbelieve, disaster ceaseth not to strike them because of what they do, or it dwelleth near their home until the threat of Allah come to pass. Lo! Allah faileth not to keep the tryst.
Spanish: [13:31]Si hubiera un Corán en virtud del cual pudieran ponerse en marcha las montañas, agrietarse la tierra, hablar los muertos... Pero todo está en manos de Alá. Los que creen ¿no saben que si Alá hubiera querido habría puesto a todos los hombres en la buena dirección? No dejará de alcanzar una calamidad a los infieles en premio a sus obras o bien tendrá lugar cerca de sus casas hasta que se cumpla la promesa de Alá. Alá no falta a Su promesa.

English Pickthall: [13:32]And verily messengers (of Allah) were mocked before thee, but long I bore with those who disbelieved. At length I seized them, and how (awful) was My punishment!
Spanish: [13:32]Ya han sido objeto de burla otros enviados antes de ti. Concedí una prórroga a los infieles; luego, les sorprendí. Y ¡cuál no fue Mi castigo...!

English Pickthall: [13:33]Is He Who is aware of the deserts of every soul (as he who is aware of nothing) ? Yet they ascribe unto Allah partners. Say: Name them. Is it that ye would inform Him of something which He knoweth not in the earth ? Or is it but a way of speaking ? Nay but their contrivance is made seeming fair for those who disbelieve and they are kept from the right road. He whom Allah sendeth astray, for him there is no guide.
Spanish: [13:33]¡,Acaso Quien vigila lo que cada uno hace...? Con todo, han dado a Alá asociados. Di: «¡Ponedles nombre! ¿O es que vais a informarle de algo en la tierra que Él ignore? ¿O es sólo una manera de hablar?» Al contrario, a los infieles les es engalanada su intriga y son apartados del Camino. Y aquél a quien Alá extravía no podrá encontrar quien le dirija.

English Pickthall: [13:34]For them is torment in the life of the world, and verily the doom of the Hereafter is more painful, and they have no defender from Allah.
Spanish: [13:34]Tendrán un castigo en la vida de acá, pero en la otra tendrán un castigo más penoso. No tendrán quien les proteja contra Alá.

English Pickthall: [13:35]A similitude of the Garden which is promised unto those who keep their duty (to Allah): Underneath it rivers flow; its food is everlasting, and its shade; this is the reward of those who keep their duty, while the reward of disbelievers is the Fire.
Spanish: [13:35]Imagen del Jardín prometido a quienes temen a Alá: fluyen arroyos por sus bajos, tiene frutos y sombra perpetuos. Ése será el fin de los que temieron a Alá. El fin de los infieles, empero, será el Fuego.

English Pickthall: [13:36]Those unto whom We gave the Scripture rejoice in that which is revealed unto thee. And of the clans there are who deny some of it. Say: I am commanded only that I serve Allah and ascribe unto Him no partner. Unto Him I cry, and unto Him is my return.
Spanish: [13:36]Aquéllos a quienes dimos la Escritura, se alegran de lo que se te ha revelado. En los grupos, en cambio, hay quienes rechazan una parte. Di: «He recibido sólo la orden de servir a Alá y de no asociarle. Llamo a Él y a Él vuelvo».

English Pickthall: [13:37]Thus have We revealed it, a decisive utterance in Arabic; and if thou shouldst follow their desires after that which hath come unto thee of knowledge, then truly wouldst thou have from Allah no protecting friend nor defender.
Spanish: [13:37]Así lo hemos revelado como juicio en lengua árabe. Si tú sigues sus pasiones, después de haber sabido tú lo que has sabido, no tendrás amigo ni protector frente a Alá.

English Pickthall: [13:38]And verily We sent messengers (to mankind) before thee, and We appointed for them wives and offspring, and it was not (given) to any messenger that he should bring a portent save by Allah's leave. For everything there is a time prescribed.
Spanish: [13:38]Mandamos a otros enviados antes de ti, y les dimos esposas y descendientes. Ningún enviado, empero, puede traer un signo si no es con permiso de Alá. Cada época tiene su Escritura»

English Pickthall: [13:39]Allah effaceth what He will, and establisheth (what He will), and with Him is the source of ordinance.
Spanish: [13:39]Alá abroga o confirma lo que quiere. Él tiene la Escritura Matriz.

English Pickthall: [13:40]Whether We let thee see something of that which We have promised them, or make thee die (before its happening), thine is but conveyance (of the message). Ours the reckoning.
Spanish: [13:40]Lo mismo si te mostramos algo de lo que les reservamos, que si te llamamos, a ti te incumbe sólo la transmisión y a Nosotros el ajuste de cuentas.

English Pickthall: [13:41]See they not how we aim to the land, reducing it of its outlying parts ? (When) Allah doometh there is none that can postpone His doom, and He is swift at reckoning.
Spanish: [13:41]¿Es que no ven Nuestra intervención cuando reducimos la superficie de la tierra? ¡Alá decide! Nadie puede oponerse a Su decisión y es rápido en ajustar cuentas...

English Pickthall: [13:42]Those who were before them plotted; but all plotting is Allah's. He knoweth that which each soul earneth. The disbelievers will come to know for whom will be the sequel of the (heavenly) Home.
Spanish: [13:42]Sus antecesores intrigaron, pero el éxito de toda intriga depende de Alá. Sabe lo que cada uno merece y los infieles verán para quién es la Morada Postrera.

English Pickthall: [13:43]They who disbelieve say: Thou art no messenger (of Allah). Say: Allah, and whosoever hath knowledge of the Scripture, is sufficient witness between me and you.
Spanish: [13:43]Los infieles dicen: «¡Tú no has sido enviado!» Di: «Alá basta como testigo entre yo y vosotros, y quienes tienen la ciencia de la Escritura».
