Wisdom in The Quran

By: Maged Taman

1- One of the attributes of God is Wise from wisdom:

6:83 That is Our argument. We gave it unto Abraham against his folk. We raise unto degrees of wisdom whom We will. Lo! thy Lord is Wise, Aware.

2- The Quran is the message of wisdom:

3:58 "This is what we rehearse unto thee of the Signs and the Message of wisdom."

10:1 A.L.R. These are the ayats (verses) of the Book of wisdom.

12:2 We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'an, in order that ye may learn wisdom.

3- Wisdom is a great gift from God:

2:269 He granteth wisdom to whom He pleaseth; and he to whom wisdom is granted receiveth indeed a benefit overflowing; but none will grasp the Message but men of understanding.

4- Wisdom is granted to prophets and is the soul of the revelation:

4:54 Do they, perchance, envy other people for what God has granted them out of His bounty? [71] But then, We did grant revelation and wisdom unto the House of Abraham, and We did bestow on them a mighty dominion:

5- Wisdom is a great gift from God if given with governing:

2:251 So they routed them by Allah's leave and David slew Goliath; and Allah gave him the kingdom and wisdom, and taught him of that which He willeth. And if Allah had not repelled some men by others the earth would have been corrupted. But Allah is a Lord of Kindness to (His) creatures.

38:20 We made his kingdom strong and gave him wisdom and decisive speech.

6- Wisdom in the revelation and wisdom in calling people to the revelation:

16:125 CALL THOU (all mankind] unto thy Sustainer's path with wisdom and goodly exhortation, and argue with them in the most kindly manner- [149] for, behold, thy Sustainer knows best as to who strays from His path, and best knows He as to who are the right-guided.

7- Wisdom is exchangeable with the revelation:

43:63 NOW WHEN Jesus came [to his people] with all evidence of the truth, he said: “I have now come unto you with wisdom, [49] and to make clear Unto you some of that on which you are at variance: [50] hence, be conscious of God, and pay heed unto me.

8- Wisdom is your gate to be righteous: It is said the head of wisdom is fear of God.

26:83 "O my Lord! bestow wisdom on me, and join me with the righteous;

9- Wisdom is given to the righteous:

12:22 And when he reached his prime (prophet Joseph) We gave him wisdom and knowledge. Thus We reward the good.
