The Life of this World in the Quran

Verses from: http://www.islamicity.com/ Translation to Picktall.

By: Maged Taman

1- The life of this world is a a short game and the hereafter is the real living:

وَمَا الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا إِلاَّ لَعِبٌ وَلَهْوٌ وَلَلدَّارُ الآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لِّلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ أَفَلاَ تَعْقِلُونَ (6:32) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
6:32 (Picktall) Naught is the life of the world save a pastime and a sport. Better far is the abode of the Hereafter for those who keep their duty (to Allah). Have ye then no sense?

(29:64) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
29:64 (Picktall) This life of the world is but a pastime and a game. Lo! the home of the Hereafter that is life, if they but knew.

(40:39) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
40:39 (Picktall) O my people! Lo! this life of the world is but a passing comfort, and lo! the Hereafter, that is the enduring home.

2- The enjoyment of this life boasting and rivalry:

(57:20) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
57:20 (Picktall) Know that the life of this world is only play, and idle talk, and pageantry, and boasting among you, and rivalry in respect of wealth and children; as the likeness of vegetation after rain, whereof the growth is pleasing to the husbandman, but afterward it drieth up and thou seest it turning yellow then it becometh straw. And in the Hereafter there is grievous punishment, and (also) forgiveness from Allah and His good pleasure, whereas the life of the world is but matter of illusion.

3- The enjoyment of this life is too short that it is an illusion compared to the hereafter:

كُلُّ نَفْسٍ ذَآئِقَةُ الْمَوْتِ وَإِنَّمَا تُوَفَّوْنَ أُجُورَكُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ فَمَن زُحْزِحَ عَنِ النَّارِ وَأُدْخِلَ الْجَنَّةَ فَقَدْ فَازَ وَما الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا إِلاَّ مَتَاعُ الْغُرُورِ (3:185) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
3:185 (Picktall) Every soul will taste of death. And ye will be paid on the Day of Resurrection only that which ye have fairly earned. Whoso is removed from the Fire and is made to enter Paradise, he indeed is triumphant. The life of this world is but comfort of illusion.

(9:38) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
9:38 (Picktall) O ye who believe! What aileth you that when it is said unto you: Go forth in the way of Allah, ye are bowed down to the ground with heaviness. Take ye pleasure in the life of the world rather than in the Hereafter? The comfort of the life of the world is but little in the Hereafter.

4- This life is like it can vanish any time: thus God can make it flourish and prosper then take it down in one day.

(10:24) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi

10:24 (Picktall) The similitude of the life of the world is only as water which We send down from the sky, then the earth's growth of that which men and cattle eat mingleth with it till, when the earth hath taken on her ornaments and is embellished, and her people deem that they are masters of her, Our commandment cometh by night or by day and we make it as reaped corn as if it had not flourished yesterday. Thus do We expound the revelations for people who reflect.

(18:45) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
18:45 (Picktall) And coin for them the similitude of the life of the world as water which We send down from the sky, and the vegetation of the earth mingleth with it and then becometh dry twigs that the winds scatter. Allah is Able to do all things.

5- This life is false bride so do not put it between you and God your creator:

يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ فَلَا تَغُرَّنَّكُمُ الْحَيَاةُ الدُّنْيَا وَلَا يَغُرَّنَّكُم بِاللَّهِ الْغَرُورُ (35:5) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
35:5 (Picktall) O mankind! Lo! the promise of Allah is true. So let not the life of the world beguile you, and let not the (avowed) beguiler beguile you with regard to Allah.

6- This life is not the end game:

وَقَالُوا مَا هِيَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا الدُّنْيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحْيَا وَمَا يُهْلِكُنَا إِلَّا الدَّهْرُ وَمَا لَهُم بِذَلِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ إِنْ هُمْ إِلَّا يَظُنُّونَ (45:24) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
45:24 (Picktall) And they say: There is naught but our life of the world; we die and we live, and naught destroyeth us save time; when they have no knowledge whatsoever of (all) that; they do but guess.

(45:35) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
45:35 (Picktall) This, forasmuch as ye made the revelations of Allah a jest, and the life of the world beguiled you. Therefor this day they come not forth from thence, nor can they make amends

(46:20) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
46:20 (Picktall) And on the day when those who disbelieve are exposed to the Fire (it will be said): Ye squandered your good things in the life of the world and sought comfort therein. Now this day ye are rewarded with the doom of ignominy because ye were disdainful in the land without a right and because ye used to transgress.

Clinton Says U.S. Must Not ‘Give Up’ on Mideast Peace

From: www.nytimes.com

By DAVID STOUT

Published: January 13, 2009

WASHINGTON — Secretary of State-designate Hillary Rodham Clinton signaled on Tuesday that the United States would try to increase its diplomatic contacts with Iran and Syria, and she declared that the vision of Israelis and Palestinians co-existing in peace and prosperity must not be abandoned.
The latest on the presidential transition and other news from Washington and around the nation. Despite the “seemingly intractable problems” in the Middle East, “we cannot give up on peace,” Senator Clinton said before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, which is considering whether to confirm her selection as President-elect Barack Obama’s top diplomat.

Mrs. Clinton said America must recognize Israel’s right to defend itself from Hamas rockets but cannot ignore the suffering of Palestinians citizens, as well as Israelis. “Real security for Israel, normal and positive relations with its neighbors” as well as genuine security for Palestinians must continue to be America’s ideal, she said.

The 61-year-old senator, who was warmly received notwithstanding pointed remarks from the committee’s leading Republican about her husband’s fund-raising activities, acknowledged that lasting peace in the Middle East, and the idea of Israel and a Palestinian state living side by side, are dreams that have been elusive.

Noting that “many presidents, including my husband,” have spent years trying to achieve peace in the Middle East, Mrs. Clinton said: “We cannot give up on peace. The president-elect and I understand and are deeply sympathetic to Israel’s desire to defend itself under the current conditions and to be free of shelling by Hamas rockets.

“However,” she went on, “we have also been reminded of the tragic humanitarian costs of conflict in the Middle East and paid by the suffering of Palestinian and Israeli civilians. This must only increase our determination to seek a just and lasting peace agreement that brings real security to Israel, normal and positive relations with its neighbors; independence, economic progress and security to the Palestinians in their own state.”

As for Iran and Syria, Mrs. Clinton said the United States must continue to press them to “abandon their irresponsible behavior” in the region. When the committee chairman, Senator John Kerry, Democrat of Massachusetts, observed that he thought it “counterproductive and almost incomprehensible” that Washington was not more engaged with Iran and Syria, Mrs. Clinton said — as President-elect Obama has repeatedly done — that the United States has “one president at a time.”

“We are not taking any option off the table at all,” Mrs. Clinton said of Iran. But she said the Barack administration would follow “a new, perhaps different approach,” especially to keep Iran from becoming a full-fledged nuclear power.

“We have no illusions,” the senator said of the difficulties of dealing with Tehran’s leaders. “It is going to be United States policy to pursue diplomacy with all its multitudinous tools” to thwart Iran’s nuclear aspirations, she said.

Asked whether she would engage in “personal diplomacy” with Iranian leaders, Mrs. Clinton said she would wait until her confirmation — which seemed all but certain, given the friendly reception she received before the committee — to comment further. The United States has “one president at a time,” she repeated, adding that she is “very respectful of the ongoing work of the Bush administration.”

But she implicitly criticized the Bush administration when she said, “I believe that American leadership has been wanting but is still wanted. We must use what has been called ‘smart power,’ the full range of tools at our disposal -- diplomatic, economic, military, political, legal and cultural, picking the right tool or combination of tools for each situation.”

As Mrs. Clinton put it: “Foreign policy must be based on a marriage of principles and pragmatism, not rigid ideology, on facts and evidence, not emotion or prejudice.”
She offered other veiled criticisms of the Bush administration, such as when she declared in her opening remarks that she would try to “get America back in the business” of engaging other nations to curb the nuclear ambitions of Iran, North Korea and other countries.

The United States has only limited, third-party contact, through Swiss diplomats, with Iran, and Washington’s relations with Syria have been frosty for decades. The United States withdrew its ambassador to Damascus several years ago and today has a limited diplomatic presence in Damascus.

Mrs. Clinton also said that the United States should work closely with China and Russsia, which has been increasingly at odds with the West in recent months, noting that the Obama administration would seek ratification of the comprehensive test ban treaty.

Early in the question-answer session, Mr. Kerry asked Mrs. Clinton if the new administration would regard it as “unacceptable” or simple “not desirable” for Iran to have a nuclear arsenal.
After saying that America would exhaustively pursue diplomacy in dealing with Iran, and that “no option is off the table,” Mrs. Clinton said the Obama administration would indeed hold it “unacceptable” for Iran to join the ranks of those countries with nuclear arms. “That is our premise,” she said.

And she said she would work to improve the plight of women around the world. “If half the world’s population remains vulnerable to economic, political, legal and social marginalization,” she said, “our hope of advancing democracy and prosperity will remain in serious jeopardy.

Despite the embrace of her Senate colleagues, Ms. Clinton was almost immediately put on notice by the ranking Republican on the committee, Senator Richard G. Lugar of Indiana, that a number of steps should be taken to insure transparency for former President Bill Clinton’s fund-raising activities as head of the Clinton Foundation.

“I share the President-elect’s view that the activities of the Clinton Foundation and President Clinton himself should not be a barrier to Senator Clinton’s service,” Mr. Lugar said. “But I also share the view implicitly recognized by the memorandum of understanding that the work of the Clinton Foundation is a unique complication that will have to be managed with great care and transparency.”

He said that if the “slightest doubt” arises about a foreign donation, “the foundation should not take it.”
But Mr. Lugar saw no obstacle to Mrs. Clinton’s confirmation. “I’ve enjoyed the opportunity to work with her in the Senate, and I look forward to the prospect of much more frequent collaboration when she is secretary of State,” he said.

Is the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) mentioned in the Bible?

From: www.islamqa.com

Allaah says in His Book (interpretation of the meaning):
“And (remember) when ‘Eesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary), said: ‘O Children of Israel! I am the Messenger of Allaah unto you, confirming the Tawraat [(Torah) which came] before me, and giving glad tidings of a Messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmad.’ But when he (Ahmad, i.e. Muhammad) came to them with clear proofs, they said: ‘This is plain magic’”
[al-Saff 61:6]
“Those who follow the Messenger, the Prophet who can neither read nor write (i.e. Muhammad) whom they find written with them in the Tawraat (Torah) and the Injeel (Gospel)— he commands them for Al-Ma‘roof (i.e. Islamic Monotheism and all that Islam has ordained); and forbids them from Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism of all kinds, and all that Islam has forbidden); he allows them as lawful At-Tayyibaat (i.e. all good and lawful as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons and foods), and prohibits them as unlawful Al-Khabaa’ith (i.e. all evil and unlawful as regards things, deeds, beliefs, persons and foods), he releases them from their heavy burdens (of Allaah’s Covenant with the children of Israel), and from the fetters (bindings) that were upon them. So those who believe in him (Muhammad), honour him, help him, and follow the light (the Qur’aan) which has been sent down with him, it is they who will be successful”
[al-A’raaf 7:157]

These two verses indicate that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is mentioned in the Torah and the Gospel (the Bible), no matter how much the Jews and Christians claim that he is not, for the word of Allaah is the best and most truthful of words.
Some of the things mentioned in the previous Books are as follows:

1 – In the Torah, in the Book of Deuteronomy 18:18-19 it says:
“I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him.
If anyone does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name, I myself will call him to account.”
(New International Version)
This text is still extant among them. With regard to the phrase “from among their brothers” – if that prophet were to be from among the Children of Israel, it would have said, “I will raise up for them a prophet from among them.” But it says “from among their brothers” – i.e., from among the sons of Ismaa’eel (Ishamel).

Secondly, it says in the Gospel of John 16:6-8, 12-13:
“It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor [Paraclete] will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin…
I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.”
(New International Version)
This cannot apply to anyone except the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).
Secondly: Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: It says in the Torah, in the fifth book [Deuteronomy 33:2]:

“The LORD came from Sinai and dawned over them from Seir; he shone forth from Mount Paran. He came with myriads of holy ones from the south, from his mountain slopes [or: from his right hand went a fiery law for them].”
(New International Version; alternative version of last phrase – the meaning of which is unclear in the original Hebrew texts – is from the King James Version)
This refers to the three Prophethoods: the Prophethood of Moosa (Moses), the Prophethood of ‘Eesa (Jesus) and the Prophethood of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). “Coming from Sinai” refers to the mountain where Allaah spoke to Moosa and called him and told him he was a Prophet. “Dawning over them from Seir” refers to the appearance of the Messiah from Bayt al-Maqdis (Jerusalem). Seir is a village that is still known there to this day. So this was a foretelling of the Prophethood of the Messiah.
“Paran” refers to Makkah. Allaah likens the Prophethood of Moosa to the coming of the dawn, and the Prophethood of the Messiah after him to the rising of the sun, and the Prophethood of the Seal of the Prophets to the sun rising high in the sky and its light reaching all over the earth. And it came to pass exactly as foretold, for Allaah dispelled the night of kufr with the Prophethood of Moosa, and the light increased with the Prophethood of the Messiah, and was completed and reached everywhere on earth with the Prophethood of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

These three Prophets who were mentioned in this foretelling were also mentioned in the beginning of Soorat al-Teen (interpretation of the meaning):
“By the fig, and the olive.
2. By Mount Sinai.
3. By this city of security (Makkah)”
[al-Teen 95:1-3]
End quote. See Hidaayat al-Hayaara, p. 110; and Ibn al-Qayyim’s comments on the Old Testament, Deuteronomy 33:1.

Fourthly: Shaykh ‘Abd al-Majeed al-Zandaani said in his book al-Bishaaraat bi Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) fi’l-Kutub al-Samawiyyah al-Saabiqah that in the 22nd chapter of the Gospel of Barnabas it says:
“And this will continue until there comes Muhammad the Messenger of God who, when he comes, will expose this deceit to those who believe in the laws of God.”
And it says in the Book of Isaiah:
“I have made your name Muhammad O Muhammad, O beloved of the Lord, your name will abide forever.”

And it says in the Book of Isaiah:
“What I have given to him I will not give to anyone else: Ahmad, because he praises God and this praise comes from the best part of the earth, and this will bring joy to mankind and they will recite the word of divine unity on every hill and glorify God in every high place.”

Many scholars have mentioned the places in the Bible where the name of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is mentioned. Sometimes his name is mentioned clearly, and sometimes he is described in ways that can only apply to him (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).

You should note that the books of the Bible as they exist today have been altered and changed. This fact has been stated by non-Muslim historians, but despite all that we still find in the Bible the foretelling of the coming of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Shaykh Rahmat-Allaah al-Hindi stated that every time the Christians were able to change something they did so, hence you will find that some of the ancient scholars quote passages from the Bible that no longer exist. But there are still other passages that foretell the Prophethood of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and his coming.

It should be noted that we have to arm ourselves with adequate sound knowledge in order to debate with the Christians, because even if they have no proof, they will still try to sow the seeds of doubt in people’s hearts so that they will give in to these wrong ideas and so that the truth will be concealed. “But Allaah will bring His Light to perfection even though the disbelievers hate (it)” [al-Saff 61:8 – interpretation of the meaning].

Some of the most useful books on this topic are: Izhaar al-Haqq by Shaykh Rahmat-Allaah al-Hindi; Kitaab Hidaayat al-Hayaara by Ibn Al-Qayyim; and al-Jawaab al-Saheeh by Ibn Taymiyyah. And Allaah knows best.

Israel/Palestine Conflict May Lead to Nuclear War

From: http://www.freemuslims.org

By: Kamal Nawash

Once again the Palestinian/Israeli conflict spirals out of control. However, this particular battle has produced circumstantial evidence that the conflict has become more dangerous than ever before. Unless a permanent solution is found soon, the violence may increase in severity until the conflict ends tragically.

In the latest fighting, Israel has bombed the HAMAS controlled city of Gaza for the stated reason of neutralizing HAMAS and stopping them from firing rockets into Southern Israel. As of the date of this article, approximately 900 Palestinians and 15 Israelis have been killed. HAMAS’ stated reasons for firing the rockets is to end the siege of Gaza by Israel which HAMAS alleges is preventing the free movement of people and goods and causing a humanitarian crisis. Israel denies the existence of a humanitarian crisis and refuses to end the siege of Gaza unless HAMAS recognizes Israel or is out power. In general, what makes the Palestinian/Israeli conflict so dangerous is that half the world, (three billion people (Jews, Christians & Muslims)) are emotionally, historically and religiously attached to the land known as Israel/Palestine.

This fact was demonstrated in the last few days as demonstrations erupted in more than 95 countries around the world. Moreover, due to the affordability of satellite TV, in even the most underdeveloped countries, billions of interested people are exposed to 24 hour graphic coverage of this latest battle in Gaza. Western News stations like BBC and CNN no longer have a monopoly on reporting news. Many Middle Eastern TV stations have surpassed the reach of BBC, CNN and other western media. As to graphic images, dozens of news stations like Aljazeera have been broadcasting live and prerecorded graphic images of Palestinian babies blown up into pieces by the Israeli military.

One particular gruesome scene that was played over and over again was that of a three year old little girl with her heart protruding out of her body after a bomb fell on her house. Another station, Al Alam, repeated the scene of four dead babies who were placed next to each other in the same refrigerator of a morgue because of the large number of dead in Gaza. The graphic and often emotional coverage of this latest battle is inspiring the fury of the masses which in turn are putting enormous pressure on their governments to join the fight on the side of the Palestinians.

This conflict is much more dangerous than most people realize. For example, Egypt is receiving so much negative media coverage for not opening its border with Gaza that People throughout the Arab and Muslim world started calling for the overthrow of the Egyptian government and demonstrators attacked Egyptian embassies in several countries. The pressure on Egypt is so intense and ruthless that a shaken Egyptian president was forced to hold two press conferences to explain his government’s position and to distance Egypt from Israel.

Similarly, the friendly nation of Jordan came under so much pressure for not breaking diplomatic relations with Israel that King Abdullah held a publicity stunt in which he was seen donating blood for the people of Gaza and for the first time in recent memory he referred to Israel as the Enemy. Even the Saudi government was not immune from attacks and calls for the overthrow of the Saudi government.

Media outlets repeated scenes of demonstrators burning the effigy of the King of Saudi Arabia with the Israeli flag wrapped around him for hundreds of millions of people to see. Saudi Arabia is perceived as a secret ally of Israel in the desire to destroy HAMAS and the refusal of the Saudi government to allow demonstrations against Israel only reinforced this belief. Whatever the truth, the Saudi government was so shaken by the attacks against it and the constant portrayal of the Saudi King rapped in the Israeli flag that the official Saudi media began publicizing Saudi efforts to raise money for the people of Gaza.

The conflict between Israel and the Palestinians is becoming extremely dangerous and can only be described as a ticking NUCLEAR BOMB. Currently, only Israel has nuclear weapons in the Middle East. But Iran may also go nuclear and if that happens the Arabs will try to do the same. Without a doubt, there is no conflict on earth that has the same global impact as the Palestinian/Israeli conflict.

Because of the potential for global instability, the entire world must do all it can to bring peace between the Palestinians and Israelis. The question is can this conflict be solved after many wars failed to end the conflict? The answer is YES but time is running out. Currently, there are four proposals to the Israel/Palestinian conflict and three have been attempted and failed. The first is that the Israelis and Palestinians continue fighting until one submits to the other, a plan that has been tried and failed.

The second is a plan where both people separate by creating two separate countries. This plan is referred to as the two state solution and all attempts to implement it have failed. The third is to divide the Palestinian territories and place them under the control of Egypt and Jordan. This solution has been tried (1948-1967) and also failed because it did not address the core of the conflict. The fourth solution is based on integration of both Israelis and Palestinians in one nation and is the only solution that has proven successful.

For the last 20 years the world has focused on the two state (two country) solution which has clearly failed. However, contrary to unanimous belief, neither the Palestinians nor the Israelis are to blame for the failure of the two state solution. The two state solution failed because the concept of creating two separate countries by dividing Israel/Palestine was and still is a difficult pill to swallow for Israelis & Palestinians. It is a fact that Israelis and Palestinians have religious, historical and emotional attachments to every square inch of the land that includes Israel and Palestine and neither side is eager to embrace permanent separation or "amputation" as described by Israeli novelist Amos Oz.

Consequently, it is highly unlikely that permanent separation will lead to permanent peace. In light of the above facts some may think that a solution is impossible. NOT TRUE. The Palestinian/Israeli conflict can be solved as long as both sides give up the notion that they deserve exclusive control and rule over Israel/Palestine.In light of the attachments that both parties have for the same territory, the solution cannot be in separating but in finding a formula for living together. Many Israelis and Palestinians agree that Israel/Palestine is indivisible. Thus, the solution lies in uniting Israelis and Palestinians in one country while guaranteeing both sides equality and absolute security. What is being proposed here is the creation of two sovereign states similar to New York and New Jersey, joined together in a confederation to form one country.

To illustrate further, after occupying the West Bank and Gaza in 1967, Israel could have annexed those territories into Israel by providing the Palestinians with Israeli citizenship. Israel did not do this and instead chose to treat the West Bank and Gaza as part of Israel without granting the Palestinians citizenship, equality or political participation. Legally, Palestinians were and continue to have the same status as American blacks in the 19th century. Israel did not integrate the Palestinians into Israel because Israelis were afraid that the Palestinians may one day outnumber the Jews and vote Israel out of existence.

While this is a legitimate concern, Jews and Israelis who fear equality for Palestinians assume that granting the Palestinians equality would lead to the destruction of Israel. This is a false assumption. The world has produced many successful formulas for different people living together and sharing power and a formula can be found in this case. An example of a formula is the creation of a confederation of Israel/Palestine based on the principles of free trade and the free movement of labor and people. As to the national government, Israel and Palestine can each contribute 50% to the national parliament, a formula that would guarantee security, and eliminate political dilution from demographic changes and make certain that extremist become marginalized.

The above formula is an example that gives Palestinians and Israelis most of what they want while allowing both people to be independent and secure. Moreover, with this solution, Jerusalem becomes a non-issue and borders become less relevant. As proof that integration can work, consider that Israel has one million Palestinians with Israeli citizenship who are often referred to as "Israeli Arabs." It is important to note that they are not participating in violence.

This is because Palestinians who are citizens of Israel have civil and political rights while the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza have nothing.Without a doubt most readers of this article will think that the author is naïve, idealistic, stupid, Zionists or trying to destroy Israel. We understand your beliefs. However, please ask yourself if Israel destroys Hamas or Islamic Jihad will there be peace between Israelis and Palestinians? Consider that Hamas was created in 1987.

Before HAMAS was created, Israel fought five major wars and numerous other battles. Moreover, before HAMAS there were the PLO, Fatah, PFLP, PFLP-GC, 15 May Organization, Abu Ali Mustapha Brigades, Al-'Asifah, Arab Liberation Front, Force 17, Black Hand , Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - Special Command, Popular Resistance Committees, Popular Revolutionary Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Black September, Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Doghmush, Omar Ben al-Khatib Warriors, Palestinian Liberation Army, Palestinian Popular Struggle Front, Palestinian fedayeen, Swords of Truth, Rejectionist Front, among other organizations.

Today most of the above organizations have been destroyed or just vanished. However, the conflict has not ended as the above organizations have been replaced by Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Holy Jihad Brigades, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, Army of Islam, As-Sa'iqa, Tanzim, Al-Quds Brigades, among others. The point here is that even if Israel destroys HAMAS, the conflict between Israelis and Palestinians would not be solved and it would only be a matter of time before a new group forms to replace HAMAS. Israelis and Palestinians must realize that what they have done for the last 70 years will never bring peace to either Palestine or Israel under the best of circumstances. Under the worst of circumstances this conflict may lead to an all out nuclear war where millions will die and this is no longer an exaggeration.

To summarize, Israel and its neighbors have fought numerous wars and no side has given up on their fundamental claims. For the last 20 years, both sides have tried to separate by creating two separate countries but this approach has failed because all sides have attachments to Israel and Palestine.

The only solution that has a record of success is integration as demonstrated by the Palestinians who are citizens of Israel. If peace is not found then the day may soon come when the governments of the Middle East maybe overthrown by people who want to directly intervene on behalf of the Palestinians. If an uprising erupts throughout the Middle East then nuclear war may soon follow. Therefore, the choices are between total annihilation or equality for Palestinians and security for Israel. There are no other choices.

Blogger Comment:
To have ever lasting peace you need to put facts in the table to all parties:
1- Israel is going no where. It is found to continue.
2- All the three major religions consider the return of Jews to holy land is God promise of the end of time. We supposed to work it together we fought about it for more than 70 years.
3- The security of Israel is their legitimate right.
4- End the craziness of mutual destruction.
5- End the mind set of Israel as the day-night problem of the Arab/Muslim world.
6- Beware from some Christians who thinks that war between Muslims and Israel is a plan of God for Jesus second coming. We have to correct that to them.
7- I no doubt sympathize with every one killed in both sides. For honesty I do not know what ignited this war but I am sure it could have been avoided and we have to end it.
8- No doubt the Arab tyrants did not help to avert this war but likely they encouraged its occurrence.
9- It is likely UN or similar troops will be needed between both sides.

The Proclamation of The Quran

Verses from http://www.islamicity.cim/ Verses translated by Picketall and Asad

By: Maged Taman

The proclamation of God in the Quran that it is a recitation and revelation from him and not other than him is quite clear in the verses of the Quran. The proclamation does not come with no evidences, God gave the evidences in the Quran as his book. He as well challenge you to prove otherwise, meaning to prove any one else made it including if Muhammad himself and even Satan. God even made it a fair challenge: that it is not his book if we or the Jinns even in a very collective manner can produce the like of the Quran. Over the next 1400 years or so no one produced like the Quran including the governments of the world.

These are collection of many verses in the Quran were God proclaim it is his book:

وَمَا كَانَ هَـذَا الْقُرْآنُ أَن يُفْتَرَى مِن دُونِ اللّهِ وَلَـكِن تَصْدِيقَ الَّذِي بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ وَتَفْصِيلَ الْكِتَابِ لاَ رَيْبَ فِيهِ مِن رَّبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ (10:37) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
10:37 (Picktall) And this quran is not such as could ever be invented in despite of Allah; but it is a confirmation of that which was before it and an exposition of that which is decreed for mankind-- Therein is no doubt--from the Lord of the Worlds.

(14:1) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
14:1 (Picktall) Alif. Lam. Ra. (This is) a Scripture which We have revealed unto thee (Muhammad) that thereby thou mayst bring forth mankind from darkness unto light, by the permission of their Lord, unto the path of the Mighty, the Owner of Praise.

(18:1) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
18:1 (Picktall) Praise be to Allah Who hath revealed the Scripture unto His slave (Muhammad), and hath not placed therein any crookedness,

(12:3) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi 12:3 (Picktall) We narrate unto thee (Muhammad) the best of narratives in that We have inspired in thee this quran, though aforetime thou wast of the heedless.

(15:87) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
15:87 (Picktall) We have given thee (Muhammad) seven of the oft repeated (verses) and the great quran.

17:106) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
17:106 (Picktall) And (it is) a quran that We have divided, that thou (Muhammad) mayest recite it unto mankind at intervals, and We have revealed it by (successive) revelation.

(20:114) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
20:114 (Picktall) Then exalted be Allah, the True King! And hasten not (O Muhammad) with the quran ere its revelation hath been perfected unto thee, and say: My Lord! Increase me in knowledge.

(27:6) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
27:6 (Picktall) Lo! as for thee (Muhammad), thou verily receivest the quran from the presence of One Wise, Aware.

(30:58) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
30:58 (Picktall) Verily We have coined for mankind in the quran all kinds of similitudes; and indeed if thou comest unto them with a miracle, those who disbelieve would verily exclaim: Ye are but tricksters!

(6:92) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
6:92 (Y. Ali) And this is a Book which We have sent down, bringing blessings, and confirming (the revelations) which came before it: that thou mayest warn the mother of cities and all around her. Those who believe in the Hereafter believe in this (Book), and they are constant in guarding their prayers.

(2:146) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
2:146 (Picktall) Those unto whom We gave the Scripture recognize (this revelation) as they recognize their sons. But lo! a party of them knowingly conceal the truth.

(2:151) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
2:151 (Picktall) Even as We have sent unto you a messenger (Muhammad) from among you, who reciteth unto you Our revelations and causeth you to grow, and teacheth you the Scripture and wisdom, and teacheth you that which ye knew not.
(81:25) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
81:25 (Picktall) Nor is this the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned

(46:29) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
46:29 (Asad) AND LO! We caused a group of unseen beings to incline towards thee, [O Muhammad,] so that they might give ear to the Qur’an; and so, as soon as they became aware of it, they said [unto one another], “Listen in silence!” And when [the recitation] was ended, they returned to their people as warners.

(17:88) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
17:88 (Picktall) Say: Verily, though mankind and the jinn should assemble to produce the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce the like thereof though they were helpers one of another. - English

Imam Husayn and the Renewal of Islam

From: http://alqazwini.org/qazwini_org/articles/by_articles/strtpth_mrch03.htm

By: Imam Algawzini

As the mourning period of Ashura passes, one might pose this important question: "Why the need for this commemoration? And why must we again speak of a revolution that took place some fourteen centuries ago?"

In his revolution, Imam Husayn {a} indeed exemplified the core message of his grandfather Prophet Muhammad {s}, He represented the viable translation of all the values and principles that Prophet Muhammad {s} strived for, The enemies of the Prophet asked his uncle Abu Talib to tell him that if he abandons his mission, he will receive a grand compensation, The Prophet replied, "Oh dear uncle, if they set the sun in my right hand and the moon in my left at the expense of renouncing this mission, I will never do so unless Allah makes this message triumph or I die conveying it1."

The profound principles that the Prophet fought for and established were tampered with and distorted by the Umayyad dynasty, hence prompting Imam Husayn {a} to salvage the faith of his grandfather by recompensing the imbalance and correcting the depravity brought forth by the Umayyad dynasty, In his struggle to rectify the faith of his grandfather, Imam Husayn {a} became the voice of his grandfather and the entire camp of righteousness when he revolted against the Umayyad tyranny.

Imam Husayn's {a} message as he fought for justice and freedom is universal and should not be confined to Muslims only, It is a message that magnifies the vision of all free peoples and nations, Imam Husayn {a} teaches the free and conscientious people of our world how to reject a life girded with humiliation and tyrannical rule, Imam Husayn {a} most powerfully rejected a life of humiliation when he said, "And I have to choose between sacrificing my life and yielding to a life of humiliation, but it is impossible for us (the family of the Prophet) to accept a life of humiliation2." Furthermore, it is Imam Husayn {a} who pioneered the path of sacrifice, and taught us how to sacrifice ourselves for dignity. He demonstrated to us that a nation who fears an oppressor will not live a dignified life.

" Islam is Mohammedan in its inception, Husaynian in its survival. "

When Imam Husayn {a} was approached by some who were questioning his motivation, they were blind to his visionary goals, for they were extremely limited in their ability to analyze his presage of the future, The Imam struck their minds and hearts with an Islamic principle from the Prophet --an uncompromising stance against oppression. He made a call to awaken the oblivious nation of his grandfather by quoting the Prophet, "He who witnesses an oppressive dictator, exercising despotism, but does nothing about the situation, not even by either words or actions, it will be the right of Allah to take such person into the same entry [of the tyrant] (Hell-fire)3."

Muslims today owe Imam Husayn {a} a great deal of respect and gratitude. Therefore, it is not fitting that mostly Shiite Muslims commemorate him. Imam Husayn {a} did not rise to save Islam for the Shiites only, but he did so for all Muslims. His sacrifices continue to be radiant sources of inspiration for all free and freedom loving people around the world. The great scholar Mu'in AI-Deen Ajmiri, from the Sunni school of thought, once said, "Islam is Mohammedan in its inception, Husaynian in its survival." Hence, Imam Husayn {a} must be perceived by all Muslims as a genuine Islamic legacy that should be commemorated by all.

We believe that a prophet or messenger only dies physically and his message continues for eternity. We also believe that Imam Husayn's {a} message was immortalized. Only to remember Imam Husayn {a} is enough to charge millions of masses with a will to seek freedom and revolt against oppression. When we commemorate Imam Husayn {a} as a character and an epitome, we will indeed be apt to derive strength and renewal for our own dynamism. As long as aggression persists to suffocate the voice of justice in this world, therein shall be a commemoration for Imam Husayn {a}.

The Fitrah

From: www.islamreligion.com

By Dr. Bilal Philips

When a child is born, it has with it a natural belief in God. This natural belief is called in Arabic the “Fitrah”.[1] If the child were left alone, it would grow up aware of God in His unity, but all children are affected by the pressures of their environment whether directly or indirectly. The Prophet, may God praise him, reported that God said,
“I created My servants in the right religion but the devils made them go astray.”[2]

The Prophet also said,
“Each child is born in a state of “Fitrah”, but his parents make him a Jew or a Christian. It is like the way an animal gives birth to a normal offspring. Have you noticed any (young animal) born mutilated before you mutilate them?”[3]

So, just as the child’s body submits to the physical laws which God has put in nature, its soul also submits naturally to the fact that God is its Lord and Creator. But its parents try to make it follow their own way and the child is not strong enough in the early stages of its life to resist or oppose its parents. The religion which the child follows at this stage is one of custom and upbringing and God does not hold it to account or punish it for this religion. When the child matures in youth and clear proofs of the falsehood of its religion are brought to it, the adult must now follow the religion of knowledge and reason.”[4] At this point the devils try their best to encourage him to stay as he is or to go further astray. Evils are made pleasing to him and he must now live in the midst of a struggle between his Fitrah and his desires in order to find the right road. If he chooses his Fitrah, God will help him overcome his desires even though it may take most of his life to escape, for many people enter Islam in their old age although most tend to do so before that.

Because of all these powerful forces fighting against the Fitrah God chose certain righteous men and revealed to them clearly the right path in life. These men whom we call prophets were sent to help our Fitrah defeat its enemies. All the truths and good practices present in societies around the world today came from their teachings, and if it were not for their teachings, there would be no peace or safety in the world at all. For example, the laws of most Western countries are based on the “Ten Commandments” of Prophet Moses, like “Thou shalt not steal” and “Thou shalt not kill” etc., even though they claim to be “secular” governments, free from the influence of religion.

Thus, it is man’s duty to follow the way of the prophets since it is the only way which is truly in harmony with his nature. He should also be very careful not to do things simply because his parents and their parents did it, especially if knowledge reaches him that these practices are wrong. If he does not follow the truth, he will be like those misguided people about whom God says in the Quran:
“If they are told to follow what God has revealed, they say: ‘No, we will continue to follow what we found our foreparents doing!’ Even though their foreparents did not comprehend anything nor were they rightly guided.” (Quran 2:170)
God forbids us from obeying our parents if what they want us to do is against the way of the prophets. He said, in the Quran,
“We advise man to be good to his parents, but if they try to make you do in My name what you know to be false, do not obey them.” (Quran 29:8)
Born Muslim
Those who are fortunate to be born in Muslim families must be aware that all such “Muslims” are not automatically guaranteed paradise, because the Prophet warned that a large part of the Muslim nation would follow the Jews and Christians so closely that if they entered a lizard hole Muslims would climb in after them.[5] He also said that before the Last Day some Muslims would actually worship idols.[6] All of these people will have Muslim names and consider themselves Muslims, but it will be of no benefit to them on the Day of Judgement. Today, there are Muslims all around the world praying to the dead, building tombs and masjids over graves and even performing rites of worship around them. There are even some who claim to be Muslim and worship Ali as God.[7] Some have turned the Quran into a good luck charm which they hang on chains around their necks, in their cars or on key chains etc. Therefore, those born into such a Muslim world who blindly follow whatever their parents did or believed, have to stop and think whether they are simply a Muslim by chance or a Muslim by choice, whether Islam is what their parents, tribe, country, or nation did or does, or what the Quran teaches and what the Prophet and his companions did.

Prophet’s prayers for refuge with Allaah and dhikr at times of tribulation and hardship

From: www.islamqa.com

Are there any du’aa’s that we can say at times of calamity and tribulation, such as war and the kaafirs’ attacks against Muslim countries?.

Praise be to Allaah.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to seek refuge with Allaah a great deal from trials and tribulations, as it says in the hadeeth of Zayd ibn Thaabit that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “Seek refuge with Allaah from trials and tribulations, both visible and hidden.”
Narrated by Muslim, 2867.

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “My Lord came to me tonight in the most beautiful form…” and in this hadeeth he said that Allaah said, “O Muhammad, when you pray, then say: ‘Allaahumma inni as’aluka fi’l al-khayraat wa tark al-munkaraat, wa hubb al-masaakeen, wa an taghfira li wa tarhamani wa tatooba ‘alayya. Wa in aradta bi ‘ibaadika fitnatan, faqbidni ilayka ghayra maftoon (O Allaah, I ask You (to enable me) to do good deeds and avoid evil deeds, and to love the poor, and (I ask You) to forgive me, have mercy on me and accept my repentance. If You will that some trial should befall Your slaves, then take me to You [i.e., cause me to die] without having subjected to that trial).”

Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 3233; al-Albaani said of this hadeeth in Saheeh al-Targheeb wa’l-Tarheeb (408), it is saheeh li ghayrihi.
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to seek refuge from trials and tribulations because when they come they do not befall the wrongdoers only, rather they befall everyone.

It is a good idea to acquaint ourselves with the ahaadeeth that mention dhikrs which have to do with trials and tribulations and disasters, so that we may call upon Allaah with these words and spread this knowledge and memorize whatever we can of them… and understand their meanings so that we can worship Allaah by means of them, because they are the greatest words that can be spoken in these circumstances.

1 – Abu Burdah ibn ‘Abd-Allaah narrated from his father that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) was afraid of some people he would say, “Allaahumma inna naj’aluka fi nuhoorihim wa na’oodhu bika min shuroorihim (O Allaah, we place You before them and we seek refuge in You from their evil).”
Narrated by Abu Dawood, 1537; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 1360.

2 – It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to say at times of distress: “Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah al-‘Azeem al-Haleem, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah Rabb al-‘Arsh al-‘azeem, la ilaaha ill-Allaah Rabb ul-samawaati wa Rabb ul-ard wa Rabb ul-‘Arsh il-kareem (There is no god but Allaah, the All-Powerful, the Forbearing; there is no god but Allaah, Lord of the mighty Throne; there is no god but Allaah, Lord of heaven, Lord of earth, and Lord of the noble Throne).” Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 6345; Muslim, 2730.

3 – The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The words of relief are: Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah al-‘Azeem al-Haleem, laa ilaaha ill-Allaah Rabb al-‘Arsh al-‘azeem, la ilaaha ill-Allaah Rabb ul-samawaati wa Rabb ul-ard wa Rabb ul-‘Arsh il-kareem (There is no god but Allaah, the All-Powerful, the Forbearing; there is no god but Allaah, Lord of the mighty Throne; there is no god but Allaah, Lord of heaven, Lord of earth, and Lord of the noble Throne).”
Saheeh al-Jaami’ al-Sagheer wa Ziyaadatuhu, 4571.

4 – When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) went on a military campaign he would say, ‘Allaahumma anta ‘adudi wa anta naseeri wa bika uqaatil (O Allaah, You are my help and You are my support and by Your help I fight).”
Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 3584; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 2836.

5 – The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Shall I not tell you of something that, if any worldly calamity or disaster befalls any man among you and he says these words, he will be relieved of it. (It is) the du’aa’ of Dhu’l-Noon: “Laa ilaaha illa anta subhaanaka inni kuntu min al-zaalimeen (none has the right to be worshipped but You (O Allaah), Glorified (and Exalted) be You [above all that (evil) they associate with You]! Truly, I have been of the wrongdoers).” According to another report: “No Muslim man says this du’aa’ concerning anything but Allaah will answer his prayer.”
Saheeh al-Jaami’ al-Sagheer wa Ziyaadatuhu, 2065

6 – The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to teach his Sahaabah to say these words when they felt afraid: “A’oodhu bi kalimaat-illaah il-taammati min ghadabihi wa min sharri ‘ibaadihi wa min hamazaat al-shayaateeni wa an yahduroon (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allaah from His wrath and from the evil of His slaves and from the evil promptings of the devils and from their presence).”
Narrated by Abu Dawood, 3893; classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 3294.

7 – The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The du’aa’ of the person who is in distress is: ‘Allaahumma rahmataka arjoo fa laa takilni ilaa nafsi tarfat ‘ayn wa aslih li sha’ni kullahu laa ilaaha illa anta (O Allaah, for Your mercy I hope, so do not leave me in charge of my affairs even for the blink of an eye; rectify all my affairs. There is no god except You)’”
Narrated by Abu Dawood, 5090; classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 4246.

8 – If some matter was troubling him, he would say, Yaa Hayyu yaa Qayyoom bi rahmatika astagheeth (O Ever-Living, O Sustainer, by Your mercy I seek Your help).” According to another report: “If some matter worried him or distressed him.” Saheeh al-Jaami’ al-Sagheer, 4791.

9 – The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: to Asma’ bint ‘Umays, “Shall I not teach you some words which you can say at times of distress and hardship? ‘Allaahu rabbee laa ushriku bihi shay’an (Allaah is my Lord, I do not associate anything with Him).’”
Narrated by Abu Dawood, 1525; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in Saheeh Abi Dawood, 1349.
According to a version narrated in al-Saheeh al-Jaami’, “Whoever is afflicted by worry, distress, sickness or hardship, and says, Allaahu rabbee laa shareeka lah (Allaah is my Lord, He has no partner or associate), will be relieved of that.”

And there are other ahaadeeth which will have a positive effect in times of tribulation and fear, bringing peace of mind and physical safety, and drawing one closer to Allaah… We should be content with that which has been narrated in saheeh reports from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), for that is sufficient and we have no need to reports that are not sound. This is better. And Allaah knows best.

(40:5) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
40:5 (Picktall) The folk of Noah and the factions after them denied (their messengers) before these, and every nation purposed to seize their messenger and argued falsely, (thinking) thereby to refute the Truth. Then I seized them, and how (awful) was My punishment.

(40:8) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi

(40:29) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
40:29 (Picktall) O my people! Yours is the kingdom today, ye being uppermost in the land. But who would save us from the wrath of Allah should it reach us? Pharaoh said: I do but show you what I think, and I do but guide you to wise policy.

40:36 (Picktall) And Pharaoh said: O Haman! Build for me a tower that haply I may reach the roads,

(40:37) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi

40:38 (Picktall) And he who believed said: O my people! Follow me. I will show you the way of right conduct.

(40:39) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
40:39 (Picktall) O my people! Lo! this life of the world is but a passing comfort, and lo! the Hereafter, that is the enduring home.

40:41 (Picktall) And, O my people! What aileth me that I call you unto deliverance when ye call me unto the Fire?

(40:42) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
40:42 (Picktall) Ye call me to disbelieve in Allah and ascribe unto Him as partners that whereof I have no knowledge, while I call you unto the Mighty, the Forgiver.

(40:43) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
40:43 (Picktall) Assuredly that whereunto ye call me hath no claim in the world or in the Hereafter, and our return will be unto Allah, and the prodigals will be owners of the fire.

(40:44) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
40:44 (Picktall) And ye will remember what I say unto you. I confide my cause unto Allah. Lo! Allah is Seer of (His) slaves.

(40:45) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi

40:47 (Picktall) And when they wrangle in the fire, the weak say unto those who were proud: Lo! we were a following unto you: will ye therefor rid us of a portion of the Fire?

40:49 (Picktall) And those in the Fire say unto the guards of hell: Entreat your Lord that He relieve us of a day of the torment.

(40:50) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
40:50 (Picktall) They say: Came not your messengers unto you with clear proofs? They say: Yea, verily. They say: Then do ye pray, although the prayer of disbelievers is in vain.

(40:51) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
40:51 (Picktall) Lo! We verily do help Our messengers, and those who believe, in the life of the world and on the day when the witnesses arise,

(40:52) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
40:52 (Picktall) The day when their excuse availeth not the evil doers, and theirs is the curse, and theirs the ill abode.

(40:53) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
40:53 (Picktall) And we verily gave Moses the guidance, and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit the Scripture,

(40:54) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
40:54 (Picktall) A guide and a reminder for men of understanding.

(40:55) Baset - Hussari - Minshawi
40:55 (Picktall) Then have patience (O Muhammad). Lo! the promise of Allah is true. And ask forgiveness of thy sin, and hymn the praise of thy Lord at fall of night and in the early hours.
